Teron

Teron is an independent trade city that lies only 10 miles south of Breachguard. Since the construction of the fortress and its walls roughly four hundred years ago, Teron has boomed into a wealthy city. Shortly after the walls were built, four noble families usurped the lord of Teron, King Able of Teron, and revolutionized the city's purpose, modeling it after the infamous Makipura. The economic state of the settlement is heavily mercantile, with the only real laws in place are to protect the ‘Rights of Barter’. Anything and everything can be sold here; people, drugs, weapons, anything. With the city being one of the only markets where it is legal to sell anything, and with its connection to The Great Ethari River, its prosperity only continues to climb. The Four Lords of Teron are proud that they have fostered such a magnanimous free trade state, and much of its citizenry would agree. However, those with their eyes open to beyond their coin purse see the rhetoric as no more than an excuse for monetizing actions that many other nations would consider unscrupulous and/or vile. While yes, the dispersion of wealth is more equitable than most other feudal states on the continent, it comes at a grave cost.

Districts

The Crownworks

This district is the wealthiest part of town, housing the main marketplace, fancy venues, and towering manors. The Crownworks was originally composed all of Teron, with the Patchwork Ward being an expansion built over the last few decades. Built on a small island, there are four very different ways into the city: the two bridges, one (Yamra Bridge) leading into the Patchwork Ward, and one (Windward Bridge) heading south toad the Ender Route and the Valley Road, a modest harbor on the eastern tip of the island where the Ethari River splits, and the Steamlockes that lower into the Belly of Teron.
The Keep of the Four Lords A large, beautiful, and well-guarded keep that is home to the four houses of Teron, as well as their courts, vaults, and the fairgrounds for city festivals.
Rainbow Market This area is the main marketplace of the city, and sits at the foot of the keep. Taking up nearly the entirety of the eastern half of the Crownworks, the bazaar surrounds the twin pools of the upper Steamlockes with stalls, stands, wagons, shops, etc. There are wide stone roads that facilitate the blur of shoppers and merchants, as well as wagons and beasts of burden being offloaded and loaded onto the pontoons within the twin pools. Radial in design, the integration of working laborers and merchants buying and selling goods makes for a busy district.
Pato’s Gilded Manor A nice boarding house for travelers and merchants, as well as a great venue to catch a show. The venue is owned and operated Pato Grimmly.
Church of the Great Tolerant A small temple to the minor goddess Asdira. The church is run by Priestess Maronan Setrose.

Patchwork Ward

A sprawling maze of homes, warehouses, alleyways, and dead ends; reflecting the great haste in which the district was built. Much of the more deadly dealings occur here. The majority of residents live here, with laborers leaving the city to work in the fields outside the city walls or in the Steamlockes.
Horndevil Hall A fortress where the cities guard, known as Collectors, are trained and quartered. Building is strictly off limits to the public.
Amber’s Square A secondary, smaller market square that mostly caters to the residents of the Patchwork Ward.
Spindler’s Shadow A seedy street that leads to a connection of buildings that act as the crime center for the city. The vast majority of the crime in Teron is bribing local officials, and is mostly related to taxation. Splindler’s Shadow is run by Reduld the Mad.
The Bed and Barrel A rowdy and popular inn and tavern, where locals and travelers alike come to get lost in drink, gamble, and many other forms of entertainment. The inn and tavern is run by Aity McPilver.
The Belly of Teron and the Steamlockes
The cliff face the city is built upon is home to gargantuan cave. One so big that the city’s dockyard is inside this sea cavern. Within the massive area are several harbors and wharfs, and as many as twenty tall ships can be moored. Several workers row around on pontoons, ferrying cargo and sailors to and from their ships. At the rear of the cave is a complex system of steel piping, furnaces, and shafts. This is called the Steamlockes, and it is a system of steam powered locks that raise and lower the pontoons onto the city’s street level. The furnaces used to create the steam are rumored to be powered by a pack of fire drakes.
