Session 13 "The Long Road Home" Report

General Summary

With the fall of Lachlan, Gunther and the rest of the Raven's Alliance enter the temple of Abraz and began a search for survivors. As they enter they soon find themselves under attack from more undead. The group clears them out without much trouble. They soon discover that the sarcophagus of an ancient had been ransacked by the invading force. They continue to search the temple, they soon find the quarters of the fallen priest. As Slinger investigates the room, him and Rowan spot a chest that they soon find it to be trapped. Slinger attempts to disarm it and accidentally sets it off causing a poisonous gas to emit from a tiny nozzle. Slinger begins retching and gagging as Rowan falls prey to the gas and falls unconscious. Lillyanna quickly gets to the two and gets them out of the area to help them recoup. Gunther continues to search the area and finds a key to the chest where he finds some coins, gems, and a suspicious journal. Gunther exits the temple and rejoins his companions. Outside Isaac has questioned the orc priest and found out a bit about the attack. He then translates the text of the journal and finds that it mentions an orb that is part of what is known as the Spear of Elemental Conflux. Unfortnately other then what some legends states noone in the group knows much about it. They then help Leaf and Lillianne carry Lachlan's body to the nearby inn which is full of refugees from the attack. Carrying Lachlan upstairs Lillianne begins preparing the body as the rest of the group takes time to eat, drink, and rest. After a while Leaf and Slinger go for a walk to get some meat from the waiting worgs and discuss a few things and catch up. After a while they return and Leaf secures a wagon for their trip back to Faribyr. The group rests through the night and then rises the next morning to eat and prepare for their journey. The trip back is fairly uneventful except for two incidents. The first being the group coming across a lone injured hobgoblin who reacts quickly casting a fireball and knocking Lillyanna and Rowan unconscious and killing two of the worgs. Gunthar and Slinger quickly take it out as Isaac revives Lillyanna and the gnome. With the battle quickly done the 4 on foot jump in the cart to finish their journey. The next day as they get close to their destination the cart hits a hole breaking one of it's wheels. With the help of Rowan and Gunthar, Leaf soon gets it repaired and they return to their journey. As they near Faribyr they see an encampment outside of Faribyr. Gunther recognizes the banner that flies as that of the 7th Platinum Legion and rushes forward. He sees his commander Ryancy speaking with Sila and approaches. The two women soon poke a little fun at the large dragonborn and Ryancy joins Gunthar outside the gates with the remainder of the Raven's Alliance. The relay to her what has occured and with some aid from her map reading find that the obvious direction the previous kidnapped men are towards the Grey Sentinel range. Lillyanna then joins Leaf taking Lachlan's remains to Unhf's who after seeing what has occured gathers her things and leads them to her grove. There she contacts Celote and relays the bad news. Celote calls for Cerrydwen and the queen gets angry and demands the archdruidess to open a tree gate. The pair soon step through into Faribyr and the queen openly grieves over her fallen brother. Composing herself she orders the druids to prepare the body for funeral rights on the morrow. Lillyanna and her mother spend some time together and after a while Leaf approaches and gives Lillyanna a gift. She then takes her leave and finds the queen and Gashak in the longhouse having a conversation. Lillyanna approaches and Cerrydwen assures her she is not to blame. The two old friends spend the rest of the night reminscing with Gashak until Lillyanna tired from the battle, road, and emotional trauma begins to fall asleep.
