Elem is a world of natural order. It's inhabitants, all with the ability to control different aspects of the world around them. Twelve basic races exist with the Air, Blood, Dark, Earth, Electric, Fire, Ice, Light, Nature, Psychic, Poison, and Water. These races, so to speak, each divided into different names given based on their abilities. The Air are split into the Impeti, who use air to force and move things, and the Ventus who control the cutting winds and blowing gusts. The Blood is the parent of abilities held by the Sanguine, who control blood, the Spina, who control bone, and the Tunica, who control skin. The abilities vary from person to person, some Sanguine struggle to make a bird’s eye bleed, while some are able to burst every capillary in a person with a snap of their fingers. The most powerful and gifted in Elem ability are almost always made to become Sageans. Sageans are extremely skilled in the ways of their abilities and incredibly knowledgeable, banned from the militaries of Elem as a way to ease the number of casualties, and most often found in careers as teachers, authors, or scholars. Dark is the parent of abilities held by the Omber, who are able to manipulate darkness and shadows, and the Akaryan, the Akaryan are some of the most dangerous on Elem as so much of their power still remains a mystery to even the Sageans. It’s said the Akaryan are able to teleport, turn invisible, and even enter the dreams of others. Earth is the only Elem split into four distinct groups, the Tokei that shift and move dirt and rock, the Pallasade which manipulate the crystals under the ground, the Argentum who control the minerals and metals in the rock, and the Sadun that have power of the sand and sediment. Under Electric you can find the Candit, who wield sparks and can electrocute on contact, and the Blik, who can manipulate the lightning and thunder around them. Fire is split up by the Alhara, which manipulate the heat aspect of fire, the Cindar that control the flame, and also the Ogskala which have the power of lava and molten rock. Ice’s Lichdeigh have the ability to control ice and glaciers, while the Tusari manipulate snow, blizzards, and frost. Light houses the Khwaman, who are able to control light, while their sister Elem the Mare can burn and sear with their light. Nature is made up by the Kukura who control the plants, trees, and their growth, and the Yeduri who control the wild creatures and animals. Psychic have the subdivisions of the Kinte, which use telekinesis to move objects, and the Maan, who use telepathy to control the minds and thoughts of others. Poison houses the Veno, who control poisons, toxins, and acids, and another one of the most dangerous Elems, the Plagan, which control sickness and disease. Water has three subdivisions, the Vodan that control water in the ways of the river, which is more focused and accurate, the Nauticum that control water in the ways of the ocean, harsh and powerful, and the Tempen that control rain, storms, and hurricanes.   Throughout the world, the different people live in nation states that are ever changing as the political landscape is often shifted or completely turned around from wars and movements. Nations with cruel dictators, some with flourishing democracies, and some that still rule with the medieval feudal system. There is often a feeling a pride and even nationalism for most among their own people.
