Elda
Thousands of year ago, the world used to be a solid globe. All was normal until wizards grew to love power to such an extent, they attempted to steal the power of the Gods themselves. The gods punished the world for these sorcerer’s misdeeds and so the Spear of the Godhead came to be.
The Spear of the Godhead is the name of the event itself, but the spears themselves resembled giant kilometre long harpoons made of an unidentified metal with chains that disappeared into the sky further than could be seen. They came hurtling into the world from all directions, churning up the landscape and fracturing the world itself. This was not the end of it, for after the spears had hit, countless demonic horrors erupted from the impact craters to reap havoc upon Elda.
Over the years the demons were pushed back, and most of the spears were pulled back into the sky by their long chains, finally completing the fracturing of Elda and turning the normal globe into many huge island continents, all of which floated around a central black void, that no one known has entered and come out alive.
Although demons still roam Elda, the majority have been pushed back and the war assumed won. But in the demon’s absence the different realms have become lazy in their watch, and in their negligence dark forces are stirring once more.
Your characters journey begins a few thousand years after the Spear of the Godhead occurred. The world is fantastical in nature, with many weird and wonderful creatures. Airships powered by magic are commonplace to travel between continents over the void. The technology level is medieval with a few exceedingly rare flintlock weapons to also be found. The predominant race is human but, on every continent, there are colonies of all other races, with a few places such as forests and lakes being the hotspots for some.
