Witch's Blood
In Eisholle, witches are not born but created.
Transmission & Vectors
Witch's Blood, like its name, is transmitted through the blood to blood transmission between a Witch and a newborn. A witch will inject her corrupted blood into an infant, those starting the spell called the Witch's Curse.
Causes
The Witch's Blood can only be injected into a newborn female infant before the soul has fully connected to the body.
Symptoms
As the Witch's Blood slowly corrupts the body, strange behaviors began to take part. Children infected with Witch's Blood tend to show unusual personality traits. Although all these psychological traits are common most infected with With's Blood typically only show one or two qualities:
- Those infected tend to cravings for atypical food (Insects and arachnids, organs, raw flesh, reptiles, amphibians, exc.)
- They tend to paranoid and suffer from social anxiety and preferring a life of solitude.
- They delight in that cause suffering, making petty remarks that point out people's flaws, and they despise pretty and popular people.
- They are easily agitated and quick to violence.
- They are very superstitious, keeping an odd assortment of trinkets they claim to have magical properties, and see omens in groupings of three.
- Some children grow bulbous warts or small horns.
- Their skin also changes, showing tents of gray, pale blue, pale green, or purple.
- The texture of their skin also transforms. It can either thickens, becomes dry to the touch, or spongy.
- In some cases, faster hair growth is typical.
Treatment
Once the witch's blood has been injected in a host the physical transformation can not be undone, but if the final ritual is stopped the mental and social traits can be treated with psychological therapy.
Prognosis
Witch's Blood can either move slowly or quickly based on the witch, who cast the cursed desire. Typically Witch's Blood takes 13 years to completely transform its host.
- For the first year of infection, no signs of an illness can be detected.
- As the child ages, psychological traits become more dominant in the child.
- By the age of five, physical traits start to form.
- By the age of thirteen, the Witch's Blood infection has fully corrupted the host.
- If the Witch's Rite is performed the body is rapidly aged and the psychological effects become permanent.
Sequela
Because Witch's blood is unremovable from a host body, there is a danger that the person can spread the curse either by blood to blood contact or pass down through the bloodline. There is also a late-term danger with those infected if treatment for the psychological damage fails; when a host reaches fifty, they might still transform into a witch. Because the Witch's blood also affects the reproductive and immune systems, the host's body will not fully develop any male embryos.
