Dragonfall (ˈdræɡənfɔːl)

GEOGRAPHY

Located on the Estive Coast in what remains of the Infernal Dragon Baalberith's chest, Dragonfall is the largest city in the Kingdom of Steel and its most important trade hub. It's separated into two parts, one north, one south, by the Bone River and at half a day's walk from the kingdom capital, Dragon's Rest, it's of vital importance to the country's politics and economy and where most of the Kingdom of Steel's administrative business is conducted. It houses the Knight Academy, a sea port, one of the Kingdom's biggest iron refineries, an expansive shipyard as well as a multitude of inns, taverns, shops and markets.

CULTURE & ECONOMY

Unlike most of the Kingdom of Steel, Dragonfall mainly specializes in commerce, though the city has its own refinery used primarily for iron and silver ore to expedite export of raw materials. The Knight Academy's presence would suggest a large focus on the bellic industry but as most Knights of the Realm are eventually assigned to other parts of the continent, Dragonfall itself does have a well-organized city guard but little else.
As a trading city in an already rich country, Dragonfall is one of the wealthiest cities in Eintracht, though that hasn't kept the development of poorer districts at bay. The richest one percent live in the capital, rather than in Dragonfall, but many successful merchants still have townhouses in the eastern part of the city, many of them along the Bone River or its channels that flow through the city. The poorer parts, meanwhile, are located in the port district near the shipyard and the refinery, where a lot of dust, fumes, noise and an increased crime rate make living less desirable.
Nonetheless, the port district is also one of the most exciting parts of Dragonfall, boasting a multitude of shops, street stalls and permanent markets. Right behind the warehouses a few blocks of sailor's quarters offer seafarers a place to board for very little money and this area is also where one tends to meet the most diverse people.

THE PEOPLE OF DRAGONFALL

Unlike most of the Kingdom of Steel that sees a fairly limited amount of different races on a daily basis, Dragonfall has accummulated a highly varied population through trade, tourism and politics. Next to a big Tiefling, Half-elf and Halfling percentage, the city also homes fairly large Dragonborn, Gnome, Tabaxi, Yuan-ti and Genasi communities and if you keep your eyes open on Market Day, you might just see an Aasimar or two walking the streets.

ARCHITECTURAL DETAILS OF DRAGONFALL

With Baalberith's skeleton being such an important part of the landscape of Dragonfall, it's only natural that the massive fossilized ribs that still litter the area are a big part of the architecture of the city, with two of the ribs being part of the city walls, one rib that protrudes from the ocean forming a natural gate to Dragonfall Bay and a handful of important buildings having been built directly into the bone—one of the being the Knight Academy.
