Eigengrau

The structure of reality has fallen away. All that's left of the old world is a hazy, jumbled, Escheresque landscape made of its collective memories and myths, a seemingly endless series of fractal geographies and liminal spaces. This is a volatile unreality dictated by thoughts, beliefs, and abstract will, where a majority of individuals simply evaporate into the chaotic background noise of existence. Those who remain do so by sheer force of will.   Some, called thelematists, are able to exert this willpower on the unreality around them, turning their imagination into reality. The most powerful of these thelematists, the demiurges, are able to shape entire regions according to their whims, down to even physical laws and abstract concepts, gods in all but name. They rule over the less powerful, who reinforce this power with sheer belief - fear, love, or respect for their ruler.   Adrift in an unworld with no rules, those who remain must find their own way. Unfettered by fundamental laws, they are still beset by manifestations of humanity's worst aspects and looming specters that elude comprehension. Can humanity sustain itself in such an absurd, hostile place? Will they find a reason to continue on, or will they simply fade into the noise?
