Session 007 Report
General Summary
The party wakes in Phandalin with a plan to talk to Elmar Barthen about skinning the green dragon they left in Thundertree. When they leave the Stonehill Inn they notice that their old pal Harbin Wester is currently in the stocks standing trial for the crimes he committed against the town.
Amoungst the crowd of onlookers, they hear a few rumours swirling around, they include: Trying to gain a bit of pity from the crowd Harbin frantically exclaimed that:
The party met with Barthen and struck a deal where he would send a team to skin the hide of the dragon in exchange for 50% of the profits. After resupplying, they procured transport from the local stable, and headed North East along the Triboar Trail. The made their way to Connyberry where they met with Agatha the banshee. After giving her the comb she lost centuries ago, she granted them the answer to one question. They asked about the purpose of Wave Echo Cave for which she told them of the forge held within that can be used in the crafting of magical artifacts. Not fully satisfied, the party was forced to leave and from there they headed back the way they came but followed the directions provided by Droop the goblin to find Cragmaw Castle.
The entrance to the crumbling castle appeared unmanned but Blackbriar Raventree circled around the north and found a secret entrance to the castle in a ruined portion of tower. After dealing with some sleeping Hobgoblins, the party could hear a conversation of the other side of a door. They burst down the door to find King Grol the bugbear and a female drow discussing the unconcious form of Gundren Rockseeker.
A battle ensued and the party made quick work of their foes, choosing to knock out and tie up the female drow thinking it their enemy, The Black Spider. Not convinced Reidoth the Druid decided to land a killing blow and the form of the drow morphed into the smooth, bluish, skinned form of a doppleganger. Brigid managed to stabilize the dying creature and the party questioned them. They did not learn much other than the whereabouts of The Black Spider (Wave Echo Cave) and that there is more treasure hidden within Cragmaw Castle.
