Edolia, World under Dusk

Edolia was once abandoned by its original creator, leaving it and its people to fend for themselves in the absence of that which they saw as holy. From their labors, prayer, and hard-earned faith they birthed a new pantheon of gods to protect the civilizations they had built in the Creator's absence. A pantheon that wanted nothing to do with the god of old who had left their people to toil and rot for no better purpose than entertainment. Thus, the Eternal Circle was born.    When the Creator looked back, and saw his world unsettled and 'lost' as they had strayed from his principles, he sent a flock of his godly children to correct them. They tore open the skies of Edolia, sending down five Monoliths that shattered the realm and stepping into the mortal plane to go to war against the heretical hordes. This was known as the First Descent, and those invading children of the Creator were known as the Court of Dusk.   In the Second Descent, the invading gods bought more forces, and settled these mortal invaders in the realm. This was the first landing of mortals from another world, and thus this Descent was viewed as more deadly than the first.    It is now the cusp of the Fifth Descent, a fated fragment of time where the Dusk Court wins their penultimate victory, unleashes the cataclysms trapped within the Monoliths, and ushers their awaited Era of Twilight in after slaughtering the deities of the Circle.   May the Dawn protect those it touches, and may the Dusk defend those who cannot see in the light.
