Session report: BTR Episode II

General Summary

It is a difficult time to be an outlaw on The Wheel. Having obtained the protocol droid IT-3PO after a drawn out skirmish with a rival outfit, Zaalia and her crew are called upon to answer for the damage the station sustained during the battle.   Despite their protest that the Yiyar clan were responsible for the hostilities, Elaara Ryen, the spaceport administrator, has chosen to extract compensation from the crew of the ICS Trojan. Her security forces have imprisoned Rekk and Whendy as collateral while negotiations take place via the ship's holographic communication systems.   Meanwhile, Reom and Isotech are growing impatient and the Yiyar clan are likely making preparations to leave for Cholganna themselves. Whilst nobody knows exactly what awaits on the jungle planet, all wrestle for control of the outcome…   Negotiations on The Wheel   The crew of the ICS Trojan are stuck in negotiations with Elaara Ryen, the spaceport administrator on the Wheel. She has heard that they are going in search of the Sa Nalaor and plans to use the damaged the station sustained in the recent battle as leverage to secure some of the profits. After some squabbling and bickering, they all agree that Ryen will take a 15% cut of their monetary reward as compensation for the damage. Soon afterwards, Reom contacts the crew in order to remind them of their mission and encourage them to get moving.   Journey to Cholganna   Using up to date astrogation data, the crew make a difficult hyperspace jump directly to Cholganna, giving them some time to plan their approach on the way. Ket reveals that the bounty hunter who rescued him on Taris has called in a favour - They are to capture a live nexu for the arena. They work together to make preparations – Roger and Ket are able to construct a small cage capable of handling a small or infant nexu, while Zaalia and Tark find a small compartment in the cargo bay they might be able to hide smuggled goods in.   Arriving above the planet, the ship is battered by small meteoroids and the Chol nebula renders its sensors useless. Tark decides to punch it, accelerating rapidly out of the gaseous clouds, while Roger tries to adjust the sensors. The search can begin.   The search for the ship   The crew conduct a survey of the planet's surface based on the known atmospheric entry point of the Sa Nalaor. They find a large debris field, and narrow their search down to two locations. The first is a crashed escape pod whose passengers appear to have been killed, hunted, or eaten by while animals. On the way to the pod, B1 is almost attacked by a large nexu as the party clumsily used climbing gear to find their way down the crevasse in which the pod has crashed. Upon finding the pod, Ket throws some rocks to distract a swarm of bugs hovering around its entrance, and B1 charges haphazardly in while the bugs cling to his face. Inside the pod they find data and holo-recordings indicating that the other crash site is the main hull and bridge of the lost ship.   Unbeknownst to the players, they are unable to find a suitable landing area close to the hull as Yav Yiyar has landed the Nightflyer and concealed it in the only available location. They decide to have IT-3PO hover above the main hull and jump off the cargo ramp. Exploring the ship is treacherous – The party navigates dangerous terrain and come into contact with a stalking nexu in the deck corridors. Eventually, in the bridge security command room, Tark is attacked by a cybernetically enhanced nexu whilst searching for useful items. Another jumps through a hole in the roof and the party are engaged in battle. They eventually defeat the beasts and B1 excises the cybernetic shock claws from one of the nexu in the hope of adding them to Ket's hands at some stage.   While on the bridge the crew are trying to decide on their next move when they hear a roar from outside. The Nightflyer rises from the jungle, twisting and breaking the camouflage netting that had concealed it, and flies up to the bridge. All weapons are pointed through the broken and overgrown windows at the players, and the cargo ramp extends. Yav is there with a communicator, blasting his voice into the bridge. He is there to make a deal.   To be continued…
