The Creation of Edarlein

Summary

In the beginning of time, the world of Edarlein was nonexistent. The four elemental planes mixed and mingled at the edges, and on these mixed edges lived the Proavos. These creatures were mostly used as slaves by the less good-inclined members of the Elemental Planes, such as krakens. That all changed when the gods arrived from The Outer Planes. They took a liking to the Proavos, especially The Golden Ten. Carving out a space at the intersection of the elemental planes, each of the Ten decided to take a portion of the Proavos and craft them in their own image. Izan, the lead architect of the newly crowned Edarlein, created Dwarves and placed them in the North. Gurshin, god of war, sailors, and storms, also placed his creations, the Orcs, in the North. Hupri, god of merchants and travelers, created Humans and placed them in the East. Ekti, goddess of healing and magic, placed her Elves in the West. Bauarose and Ilda Umai had their creations, the Halflings and Gnomes respectively, make their homes in the southern regions. Finally, Huvil placed the Minotaurs in the East and Kehpya placed the Centaurs in the West. The other gods looked expectantly to Bahamut and Tiamat, the fraternal twin dragon deities. However, as siblings do, they fought over what should be done with their creations. Bahamut wanted Dragons to be more passive, only intervening in small ways so as not to overwhelm mortals. Tiamat, however, believed Dragons should be able to use as much of their power as they wished. The two fought, and their blood spilled on the material plane and on the Proavos. From the blood spilled on Edarlein sprung chromatic (from Tiamat's blood) and metallic dragons (from Bahamut's blood). The two siblings decided to split the true dragons in half, and leave their Proavos (now Dragonborn and Kobolds(species)) to choose between the two. Thus was Edarlein created.
