Session 1: An unexpected invitation Report
General Summary
From all corners of the world they came - to the Nightmare's Stable in Griftrecht.
They met in the run-down tavern, identifying eachother by their signs and cards, and headed out to meet the colourful, travelling folk.
The Vistani greeted them heartily, shared their fire and food and swapped tales of bygone times and strange happenings. Night came and merriment ended - a cold fog rolling in.In the morning they awoke - alone in the cold and in unfamiliar woods. The wagonfolk had left them; somewhere in the night, though there were no signs of the camp nor tracks of the wagons. They found themselves in a strange and misty clearing, with the sun harking in the new day, though barely breaking through the cloudy haze, and with the sound of wolves howling not far away. They set to leaving this unknown wilderness, the energetic Orobir leading the group and with burly Tybalt, lifting his battleaxe, not far behind him. Mia pulled her hood over her head and huddled in her black cloak as she quietly tiptoed behind the two warriors - careful not to break a twig and draw attention to herself - and thankful that Jean-Martin had voluntered to guard the rear. The healer-knight's presence gave everyone a bit more peace of mind, knowing that the gods themselves would lend their aid, should the need arise.
And thus they ventured out onto the trail that lay before them, through the woods and mist. Not long after they stumbled on a dirt road that led to a small mansion. Two worried looking children standing on the road outside caught their attention. The eldest, Rose she was called, asked them to help them for their little brother Walter was trapped inside the house with a monster on the loose. Thorn, the small boy with the doll, sniffed and said their parents were trying to stop the monster inside the basement. While Tybalt and Mia were none to keen to help these poor and fearful children, Orobir barely hesitated and stormed off to the frontdoor. After a quick inspection of the grounds and the manor, the party entered into the old house.
Nothing afoul befell them inside yet what would one expect? The house seemed to be a bit 'rustic' in its decorating: plenty of hunting trophies and wood paneling required a certain kind of taste, but everything seemed of impressive quality and suggested the siblings must have come from aristocratic lineage. The party could not find trace of a living soul, let alone little brother Walter, as they rushed up the stairs in the dark and abandoned building. Ignoring most of the mansion to reach the topfloor, Orobir felt a metal glove graze his shoulder. Almost acting on instinct he threw his assailant over the railing, down the flight of stairs. To everyone's surprise the attacker, if it had really been that, was a suit of old armor. Had something caused the armor to suddenly tip over or were the lifeless metal parts acting on their own accord? Staring down the dark depths of the staircase they did not hear signs of life from the armor set, which surely would have scattered through-out the hallway downstairs. They turned their attention to the doors on the landing, and found the bedroom which Rose had pointed out and where Walter was supposed to be. Mia, looking out the window and down the street, could no longer see the boy and girl standing out there. Strange. What was even more interesting was the hidden door behind the mirror. Tybalt noticed a small wooden staircase, covered with cobwebs leading to some attic. And then it happened. While Jean Martin was standing in the hallway, trying to get a beat on what Tybalt had found, Mia opened a closet door next to the cleric and suddenly the room grew cold as a spectral figure appeared in the middle of the room! What would happen next would change everything...Missions/Quests Completed
