Mejare
Mejare, the Copper Spider, is one of the older gods of Eclion. She values and embodies order in all things: wether it concerns people's personal lives, the rules and norms of civilisation, natural laws or cosmic order. In older days Mejare enjoyed broad popularity and worship as the rules she lay down, enforced and guarded kept wild and chaotic threats at bay; threats both from without as within. Monks and priests preached her words of restraint, austerity and abstinence, rulers and judges sculpted society in her honor, champions and heroes fought back the chaotic madnesses of demons and other abberations.
Mejare is in constant struggle with the Fire Bird, Sargonnas, for he represents unbrittled hatred, passion, fire and destruction and seeks to set the world ablaze.
Meditation and tradition.
Various temples and cults focussed on the different aspects of Mejare's guidance. Her tempered and reserved nature was linked and accentuated to meditation by the many monastic orders that prayed to her for aid in their spirtual journeys and strengthening their resolves. Many lords and bishops used Mejare's dogma's to legitimize their rule. Emphasizing her adherence to the rule of law, the divine nature of those laws and, later on, also their historical tradition. Thus Mejare became closely associated with tradition and the maintaining of the status quo.Divine Domains
