Karrlakton

Karrlakton is the second largest city in the nation of Karrnath. It lies just north of the Mournland; only separated by the Cyre River.

Karrlakton is an ancient city that existed prior to the Kingdom of Galifar. About 2600 years ago, the area around Karrlakton was ruled by Deneith warlords, but after 400 years their leadership of the area collapsed. Karrlakton is the birthplace of both Karrn the Conqueror and Galifar ir'Wynarn I.

During the Last War, Karrlakton's fortifications and the presence of House Deneith prevented it from being attacked on several occasions. The city is also home to the Order of the Blackened Sky, a Karrnathi knightly organization.

Since the Day of Mourning, the city has seen decreased commercial activity, as the Cyre River has grown more turbulent, and shipping has moved to the Karrn River and Atur. Karrlakton's population has also shifted. Some of its population has emigrated elsewhere looking for better prospects, while scavengers and apocalyptic doomsayers have traveled to the city interested in the Mournland.

Karrlakton's economy is based around the manufacturing of arms and armaments and the trade along the Cyre River. With the decreased shipping along the Cyre River, Karrlakton has turned even more to the manufacture of weapons and armor to survive.

House Deneith is a major influence on Karrlakton. The city has held the main house enclave of House Deneith since the house's foundation, and Deneith often sends young children to be raised in the city to create a strong connection to the house. They also operate large numbers of buildings in the city.
