Gatekeepers

The Gatekeepers are the oldest of the many druid sects of Khorvaire, though they were heavily devastated during the invasions of the daelkyr. Their main task is to defend nature against aberrations, outsiders, undead, and similarly unnatural beings.

The Gatekeepers are a sect of no more than a thousand members. Most are located in the Shadow Marches, and less than a hundred are active in the Eldeen Reaches. The Gatekeepers have a strong presence among the orc tribes of the Shadow Marches, acting as spiritual and temporal leaders of certain tribes while their rangers protect others as guides and scouts.

Gatekeepers dress in ancient style garments, including tunics the deep red color of dried blood, trimmed with deerskin and rabbit fur. Gatekeepers keep horrid animals as companions, and members of the sect are responsible for creating the beasts in the distant past.

The first of the Gatekeepers, orcs, were said to have been taught their magic by the dragon Vvaraak. Gatekeepers are concerned with monitoring the heavens using Siberys observatories, and most importantly, with maintaining the dimensional seals that they believe keep Xoriat from becoming coterminous with the Material Plane.
