Rellekor

The Church of the Silver Flame is founded on a principle of compassion, that those who can be saved from supernatural evil, should be. Tieflings have the potential to be a threat, but they are no more inherently evil than anybody else. Their supernatural abilities do mean, however, that most people are ill equipped to raise a tiefling child.   During Keeper Saren Rellek's tenure as Keeper of the Flame, he was a strong advocate for the disadvantaged people in Khorvaire. In particular, he felt a strong kinship with Tieflings, and the unique danger that they faced. His solution to this was to found a town, which would serve as a sanctuary for tieflings and allow them to grow up among others like them, and receive training and education that they might come to terms with their nature in safety and security. It would be their haven, and the Church of the Silver Flame would maintain the town for as long as it was needed.   Today, Rellekor is populated almost entirely by tieflings. Most of them are planetouched, but tiefling's of all origins have found their home in Rellekor. It's not a prison, and nobody is forced to remain there against their will, but it is a place where they can be amongst their own kind, with others who understand them and can guide them. Most of the tieflings in Rellekor arrived there as infants, and remained after they graduated from the school.   As part of the program of Rellekor, in the interest of the child's wellbeing, the parents of a tiefling that has been sent to Rellekor are expected to keep in contact with the child. The children communicate with their family via letters for most of the year, but families are encouraged to travel to Rellekor to be with their child on holidays, and parents are expected to visit their child physically at least once a year, and are encouraged to do so more often if possible.   Tiefling's graduate from the school at the age of 16, where they are free to do as they wish. It is a testament to the success of the town that most of them choose to stay and act as role models for the next generation of tiefling's, and many of them become priests or templars of the Silver Flame.
