High Cardinal Krozen

"Our blessed child is the Keeper of the Flame and shows us all the path to the light. But I am the keeper of the nation, and if I must toil in the darkness to ensure its prosperity, so be it." The details of Krozen's youth are not widely known, but he was an idealistic crusader who lived on the Thrane border with Aundair, and was able to channel the power of the Silver Flame. He used this power in defence of his village, and then later as a templar of the church. As he grew older, he retired from active duty and turned to ministerial duties, turning his talents towards leadership. From there, his star rose and everyone who opposed him was either won over or otherwise removed from his path. Krozen is a remarkable man. He's a charismatic leader, and a brilliant strategist, and on top of all of these things he is also one of the most powerful clerics on Khorvaire. He is a foil to the optimism of Jaela Daran, who believes that everyone must be saved. Krozen is largely more concerned with Thrane and the faithful of Thrane, and shoulders much of the burden of politics so that Jaela doesn't have to. He has blended his faith and devotion to the flame with his devotion to his country, and places the good of Thrane before anything else. He believes that this is the path that the Flame has put him on, and he will protect the innocent, even if it means he has to sacrifice his own innocence. Krozen is effectively the leader of the Council of Cardinals. He has the support of most of the other cardinals, and this is backed up by his significant divine power. Even if some of them disagree with him, none of them can deny that he channels the power of the Silver Flame, and that he is good at his job.
