Fernia

Fernia, known as the Sea of Fire, is a plane of continually burning landscapes, and oceans of liquid flame, where every mountain is a volcano and every city is constantly on the verge of disaster. It would be simple to say that Fernia, as a plane, represents the concept of fire, but this would be an oversimplification. Natural fire is represented in Lamannia, which has both volcanoes and elementals that represent fire. Fernia is a plane of flame and heat, but it represents the ideas that flame evokes in the hearts and minds of mortal beings.   Fernia has layers that reflect the primal destruction that fire can bring, where beautiful natural landscapes are eternally being scorched and devastated by wildfires, but this is just one of the concepts of fire represented in Fernia. Fernia also has layers where the heat is utilized and turned to industry, where the Azer and similar elemental beings use the heat of the plane to forge the metals they mine and create things. Fire evokes passion in people, there's a reason that we describe so many emotions as burning, and this is also represented in Fernia, in the palaces of the Efreeti and the wild parties they hold there. The connection between fire and the earth is also represented in Fernia, with Azers working in deep mines to produce the ore needed for the forges, and Dao working those same precious metals into jewellery and other ornamentation.   The heat of Fernia is deadly to mortals unless they have protection, in some places the air is so hot that it scorches the lungs of any creature that breathes it in. Additionally, the plane amplifies the effects of any magical fires, and spells that conjure such flames are empowered. On layers where the heat is used to create, the flame itself seems to want to be used, and crafters will have an easier time of creating things if they incorporate the flames in some way. Time passes at the same rate on both the Material Plane and in Fernia, and this is consistent across layers.   Fernia is home to a variety of immortals, covering both celestials and fiends, though the majority of the planes inhabitants would be better classified as elementals. All of them, however, regardless of how they might be categorized, reflect some aspect of the concept of the plane. There are no mortals native to Fernia, and the plane doesn't produce manifestations like other planes, there are only the native immortals. This means that the population of Fernia is fixed, whenever an elemental is destroyed, it reforms soon after.
