Blademarks Guild

House Deneith made it's name and fortune from brokering and providing mercenaries, and it does this through the Blademarks Guild. Soldiers of the Blademark are employed with two-year rolling contracts, and recruits must have proper identification and background papers before they can join. Before they are released into the field, all recruits undergo a grueling training period which usually weeds out those who have trouble dealing with authority. Once someone has joined the Blademark, they are provided with room, board, training and equipment by the house. In exchange, the House takes a significant cut of the fees paid for the services of the soldiers. A gray blade usually only receives a 40% commission, though if they stay with the house and advance in rank this could rise as high as 70%. The cost to hire a Deneith mercenary depends on the quality of the soldier:

Of the 451 soldiers employed by the Sharn Blademark, 39 are black blades, 250 are gray blades, 111 are white blades, and 50 are gold blades. The 49 members of the Deneith household who serve in the Blademark are equally divided between white blades and gold blades, although they generally serve as coordinators, administrators, and instructors.
