Order of the Emerald Claw

The Emerald Claw was an elite military unit that served Karrnath during the Last War. Disavowed by their king, the Emerald Claw engages in guerrilla strikes across Khorvaire, and includes necromancers, vampires, and undead bound to their service. Some say the Emerald Claw serve an ancient lich known as the Queen of Death, that their true goal is to place her on the throne of Karrnath and the Five Nations.


The Order of the Emerald Claw is an outlawed organization of Karrn patriots and Blood of Vol worshippers. Originally a group of elite shock-trooper style knights in the service of the crown of Karrnath during the Last War, it has spread throughout Khorvaire and operated underground since its dissolution in 976 YK.
The Order continues to operate in a semi-terrorist fashion to this day, proclaiming their desire to see Karrnath once again rise to power and garnering support from the Blood of Vol.
History The Order of the Emerald Claw was established in 896 YK to aid Karrnath during the Last War. Karrnath had been suffering from several major setbacks and a famine at the beginning of the war, and the knights of the Emerald Claw helped shore up Karrnath's defenses. However, due to its radical faith many began to distrust the Order of the Emerald Claw over the course of the war. In 976 YK Regent Moranna staged a coup and outlawed the Order of the Emerald Claw, charged its members with various crimes, and seized its bases in Karrnath.
The group still exists today but as an underground network of cells of terrorists and guerrilla fighters. While the group no longer has access to the resources of the crown of Karrnath, it has cells and agents loosely connected across the continent of Khorvaire.
Hierarchy The leader of the Order of the Emerald Claw is known as The Queen of Death by most members, a mysterious lich who controls the entire order with the help of the Crimson Covenant. Since the order was officially outlawed from Karrnath it no longer operates with a strict hierarchy like it did during the war. Today it is broken up into numerous cells spread out over Khorvaire. Each cell is led by an officer, then below them are Emerald Claw Knights, members who have proven their skills in combat and their loyalty to the Order. Under the knights are troopers, who are a mix of cultists, criminals, or Karrnathi patriots. The order also employs spies and mercenaries when needed.
