Captain Benjamin Arthur Hasselt
A sailor from the age of eight. Captain Hasselt has manned every position a ship has. His father a first mate to a commercial fishing boat captain. His mother stayed at home, and watched over him and his siblings. As soon as he was old enough Benjamin's father took him out to learn everything there was to know how to sail. From tying knots too weather patterns. Ever since Benjamin has had his fair share of caravanning, escorting ships, training crews, and even a little stint of pirating. Captain Hasselt sports a leather bandoleer that carries three throwing knives. He ties his beard into three ponytails, each with a gold band. A silver rapier hangs from his right waist-side as well as two others that are strapped to his back. Hasselt has a quirk where he needs all of his possessions in pairs of three.

After years of staying limber, Captain Hasselt is very dexterous. He weighs two hundred and ten pounds. Average strength now since all the heavy lifting is done by his crew members. His health is above average, but deteriorating due to his drinking problems.

The first thing that sticks out is Ben's defined cheekbones. Alongside that his long white beard tied into three ponytails. Bushy white eyebrows where one is always raised at the sight of something that catches his interest. His green eyes stay in an angry stare at all times.

Personal history
The Captain's earliest memory now is of a ship's mast falling right beside him then over the boat during a tropical storm. Trauma runs deep in his mind, and has caused issues with alcohol. Slowly losing memory by memory. The captain drinks half the day away. The other half doing research, and being surprisingly productive. Whether drunk, or hungover. He puts in the work needed around the ship. Then tends to his research. Keeping himself locked in his quarters. Ben personally thinks he has some sort of compulsion going on. Causing him to become so manic in relation to when he is researching. The Captain also thinks that his mania is helping push himself on to research more.
Education
Benjamin started out as an apprentice to a shipwright from the age of eight to nineteen. His father taught him everything there is to know about sailing the seas. In any kind of ship as well.

Mental Trauma
Benjamin's mother was an abusive women. She had five kids to take care of including him, while her husband was away at sea. The stress of not knowing whether or not Ben's father would make it back alive or not got too her. Taking out beatings to his siblings, and especially him. A long time of abuse from his mother lead to Ben having a distrust in women. Not a misogynist, but is cold to any sort of advances unless he is the one making them.
Intellectual Characteristics
A suave fellow. Captain Hasselt could sell a comb to a bald monk for twice the price he paid for it. His charisma is beguiling. It is very tempting to say yes to his favors, and agree with his statements.
