Dagda - The Good God (Dag-da)
DAGDA
Known As: The Good God, The Merry One, The Dawnhammer
Throughout the War of the Gods, Dagda was a loyal supporter of the All-Father, Belenus. Not blessed with a mind for military matters, it was Dagda's son, Lugh, who led the Red Hand of the Dawn. In common writing, Dagda is shown as a proud father and loyal companion to Lugh. Dagda is normally shown as an enormous human man carrying a large barrel of ale on his back and a mighty stone hammer in one hand. Though not a leader, he was considered a powerful warrior capable of shattering mountains with one swing of his hammer.Dagda is the celestial God of 'Good' in modern Eashar. Of the Sun Tree lineage, Dagda is often given credit for joy in Eashar. Though not responsible for the creation of joy as a concept, Dagda is said to see the spread of it as his godly duty. In that sense, Dagda is often the patron of festivals, court and ale houses. Portrayals of Dagda often show him drinking merrily, surrounded by the joyous races of Eashar as he moves from festival to festival. This has made him a favourite of the people of Eashar but is less celebrated in formal settings or by the established churchs.
