Belenus - The Sun God (Bell-e-nus)

BELENUS

Known as: The Sun God, Bel, The All Seer, Lightbringer
Belenus is a primordial god of Eashar and sibling to Cernussus, Danu, Ernmas and Viridios. He is the God of the Sun, considered the most powerful of the primordials and, with Danu, associated with the flourishment of life across the world. The association with 'life' has earned Belenus the reputation as the Father of the Gods by mortals aswell as being responsibile for the pure and righteous elements of creation.   Though many of the deities created by Belenus and Danu are seen as 'the good gods' by mortal beings, some see him as an authoritarian, self-righteous in the belief that his creations were perfection and that the spawn of the Moon Tree and Tree of Shadows were inferior and unworthy. Many legends speak of Belenus as a destroyer, enacting genocide against these lesser beings. The War of the Gods is said, by some, to have started primarily due to Belenus treatment of these lesser races and, in particular, his demand that the Deviant Gods were a tainted mixing of the Sun Tree and the Tree of Shadows and that they should be destroyed. It was only through the power and rage of Danu that Belenus was eventually quelled.   It is sometimes said that the blind of Eashar have been judged and found wanting by Belenus - and so the light was removed for them. After the war, legend says that Belenus retreated to the skies and now watches over the world in the form of the Sun.
