Balor - God of Chaos (Bay-lore)

BALOR

Known As: The God of Chaos, Balor the Blind
Balor is a celestial god of the Moon Tree lineage. Known as the God of Chaos, Balor was simultaneously a destructive force but also a means of balance. At times he is said to have acted a counter balance to the spread of the races of Eashar. Balor, with Delbaeth, is the creator of Uth'Linn, Taranis and Tethra.   Through the War of the Gods, Balor was the right hand of his creator, Cernussus, in the battle against the Red Hand. Balor is often described as an enormous giant with one-central eye. The eye is said to have been capable of wiping out entire regions of Eashar and depictions of Balor around Eashar will often show a beam of pure magic projecting from the eye, burning up the land below.   The crippling of Balor was a key moment of the War. There are many stories of how he was crippled, but the most prominent is that he was betrayed by his son, Uth'Linn, who wished to take up the mantle of God of Chaos. With the promise of a god-killing weapon, Uth'Linn led Balor into a trap sprung by Lugh the Long Arm. Lugh and his forces pinned the giant to the ground and with all his strength, pulled free the Eye of Balor. Some suggest that Balor died from his wounds, others say that he was imprisoned in darkness, shackled and blind, beneath the earth of Eashar.   Cults have sprung up around this tale, mainly within the minority races of Eashar, and have sought to free Balor from his tomb so that balance may be restored. Legend has it that returning the eye of Balor will allow him to finally break free of the shackles of Lugh and roam the land of Eashar once again.....
