Campaign Primer

Intro

As you have probably been informed already, I plan for the style of this campaign to be Cyberpunk set in a post-post apocalyptic era of Earth. That being said, my idea of Cyberpunk may not be what you traditionally think of for the genre. I will go into more detail below on what I mean, but generally I am thinking Terminator Salvation X Alita: Battle Angel X Altered Carbon. I feel it is important for the players to be excited about playing, so most everything regarding the use or non-use of certain rules is up for discussion. My goal however, is a gritty and realistic campaign. I would like to think of this less like an adventure of murder-hobos, and more of a dramatic telling of events in this world I would like to build with you.

Rules

Disclaimer: I do not plan on sticking to the following rules exactly as they are.

  • Starvation / Dehydration: Lightly applied.
  • Blunt Trauma: Ignored completely

Be warned: Make yourself knowledgeable of the following rules.

  • Tight-Beam burning attacks (B399)
  • Bleeding (B420)
  • Last wounds (B420)
  • Radiation (B435-B436)

Tech Level

General TL of Earth: PL: 9 (See description in Ultra-Tech p.6)
Areas of increased TL:
  • Medical and Bio-Tech TL 10
  • Cybernetics TL 10
  • Nano Drugs and Nanosymbiots TL 10
  • Elective Surgury and Biomods/Genetic Engineering TL 10
  • Volitional AI TL 10

Source Books

  • Basic Set
  • Ultra-Tech
  • Bio-Tech

Character Building

M.B.E.s

Use rules for Cybernetics and Body Modifications from Ultra-Tech ch.8 (starting on UT207).
*Can be purchased with character points at character creation. Don't subtract the $ amount from starting wealth.
*Must be purchased with credits once the campaign has started. Increase your character's point total, but do not subtract any "floating" CP to pay for this. Surgery recovery times will be enforced.

Synths

Use rules for either Human Genetic Engineering from Bio-Tech ch.2 (starting on BT43) or Biomods from Bio-Tech ch.7 (starting on BT168). Nanosymbionts are considered equipment.
*Can be purchased with character points at character creation. Don't subtract the $ amount from starting wealth.
*Must be purchased with credits once the campaign has started. Increase your character's point total, but do not subtract any "floating" CP to pay for this. Surgery recovery times will be enforced.

Equipment

Available Weapons

Conventional and ETC Guns: TL 8 - 9, Electromagnetic Sniper Railgun (UT141), Superfine Blade (quality) (UT163)
Tables can be found in Ultra-Tech (starting on UT135) and Basic (starting on B278)
*Other forms of TL9 or higher weapons from Ultra-Tech do not exist or are unavailable at character creation.

Starting Equipment

Player Characters will each have a starting wealth of $20,000 for which to buy equipment. This is lower than normal for the world's Tech Level due to the circumstances the players are starting the game under (resistance fighters don't normally get paid).
*Don't forget: Weapons, camping gear, ammunition, armor, medical supplies (first aid kits, nanobots, bandage spray, etc.), face masks (gas or radiation).

Character Points

Player Characters will each start with 130 CP from which to build their character. Disadvantage limit: The sum of character points gained from disadvantages and quirks cannot exceed 40. I will caution against too many "major" disadvantages which might create issues (high cost enemies, low self control alcoholism, etc.).
*If there is a clear image for a character that includes stacking certain disadvantages remember this: You can roleplay your character however you see fit. Take the disadvantages for 0 CP if you wish ^^.

Optional Character Templates

A good starting point for beginners.
  • Physician [95 points] + Military Doctor lens [+5 points] - 100 points (BT202)
  • Solider of Fortune - 100 points (B260)

Skills and Advantages to Consider

  • Combat Reflexes
  • Survival(Wasteland) or (Desert) for Asherend, (Urban) for major cities. You may come across other biomes as you explore the world :)
  • Computer Operation/TL 10

Character sheets must be submitted to your Game Master by 5pm EST on 7/11 to be reviewed and finalized
