Earth, Post Eigen-Revolution

In the future, humans have discovered the Aether, the immaterial reality out of which the material reality is formed by the mind. Though reality is deterministic, humans have found ways to overcome the laws of nature through supernatural mutations in the Aether by adjusting what is referred to as an individual's "eigenvalue." This value determines how a person's physical existence will relate to the immaterial Aether, like the supernatural coding behind a human program. One man was born with an eigenvalue that allowed him unrestricted access to all information, and through his pseudo-omniscience, mankind has reached a state of seeming global peace and prosperity. However, there are consequences to messing with code, consequences with drastic effects.
