Nathan Bedford Forest

Nathan Bedford Forest

Forest was born to a poor family in Tennessee, his father was a blacksmith and died when Forest was 16. He became the head of his family and worked along side his Uncle Jonathan Forest in Hernando, Mississippi. Sadly, his Uncle was killed in an argument with the Matlock Brothers, and young Forest got to show his combat prowess. In retaliation, Forest using his two shot pistol killed two of the brothers and wounded the other two with a knife that had been thrown at him. One of the brothers survived the attack and actually serves with him now in his cavalry unit.    Forest had a great talent for business in the blacksmithing and slave trading industries to become one of the richest men in the South. He has released an advertisement asking for Southern men to join his unit to 'have some fun and kill some Yankees!' He is paying for the cost of the unit out of his own pocket.

There is a mystic around the man, he holds a lot of acclaim for such a low ranking officer. He is beloved by the pro-slavery population, he is difficult to catch and extremely charming to whites. His hate for the slave population is well known and there are whispers of cruelty around him.
