Beltram Asylum
A historical institution toted to have helped many thousands of patients throughout it's two hundred year lifespan. Along with conventional psychology strategies popularised by Dr. Freud, the asylum also employs the newer revolutionary shock therapy and the darker, more disturbing lobotomy for the persistently and/or dangerously insane.
Beltram accepts self admitting patients as well as the criminally insane who are sent by court judges, and seperates the two groups into different wings.
The asylum is large and forms a H-shape, the entrance lobby connects two long concourses that lead to wing A, which houses inmates with peaceful afflictions, and wing B, which imprisons the more dangerous lunatics.
Structure
Includes custodial staff, nurses, doctors and lead by the medical director. The custodial staff handle jobs ranging from cleaning to restraining violent patients. The nurses dispense medicine and tend to the patient's needs. The doctors assess and monitor the patient's progress, decide on any change in dosage or medication, and are able to diagnose patients as 'sane' and submit an arguement for dismissal from the facility. The medical director oversees the whole facility, has the final say on disputes between staff, approves patient dismissal and makes financial decisions on behalf of the facility.
Public Agenda
Accepts any who are seen to be mentally ill or unstable and promises to return them to the world as a productive member of society.
History
The building was made as a convent for a sisterhood of nuns, but was abandoned for fifteen years due to protestant and catholic religious tensions. It was refurbished as a medical hospital in 1750 and has had very few major upgrades since.
