Earth, Legacy Universe

The Earth within this particular universe is much like our own: an over-populous planet on the brink of environmental and social collapse. The world is run by corporations and men in power. Some are good, some are bad. All use it for their own personal gain. Religion, for the most part, is dead. War is ongoing and science has been stretched past its safe point. Conflict builds and tensions mount as the entire planet holds it breath, waiting for the anvil to drop.   Unlike our world, this world has a few noticeable interests. For one, the supernatural and unnatural exist. They've always existed. As humanity grew in number and science took the forefront, such forces were either hidden away by people with agenda, were brought to the edge of non-existence, or have fled to the edges of humanity's reach. Ghosts, spirits. Monsters. Demons. Gods. They all exist.   For over ten million years, this world has been governed by the Immortals, beings of pure light crafted by the creator in order to protect this universe from extra-dimensional threats. Through constant war and betrayal, the numbers of the Immortals have declined, forcing gifted humans to take their place. The forces of the light are slowly weakening and in their wake, the forces of darkness rise to consume and destroy. In a nearly endless war between good and evil, the smallest of creatures will make a difference.
