Federal Republic of Tolington

The Federal Republic of Tolington was a revolutionary government set up in the Valerian coastal city of Tolington and led by Simon Reynolds. The state was declared on May,5,1902, beginning the Tolington Uprising. The republic's troops seized several ships in the harbor including an armored cruiser, H.M.S Calchester, and a few smaller ships. The Valerian emperor, Alexander VII, sent an army of 30,000 men under Konstantin Hengsbach and Micheal Hawkins and a fleet of ships under Maximillian Kellsen and Ernzt von Heilmann to crush it. After the Valerian fleet easily sunk the smaller and less discipline Tolington Republican Navy and a week of intense street by street fighting, The city hall came under siege on May,13, and seeing the nation was done for, President Reynolds and General Albie Barrett, the only two republic leaders left, raised the white flag over the city hall and called off the few remaining troops, ending the uprising and the Federal Republic of Tolington.

Disbandment

After a week of instense urban fighting and several battles, the city hall, the headquarters of the Republic, came under siege by the Valerian army on the morning of May,13. As the artillery bombarded the city center and troops clased in the streets, President Reynolds and the only other remaining major republic commander, General Albie Barrett, realized it was hopeless at this point and decided to give the order to surrender at about 4:00 in the afternoon and surrendering to the Valerian Army led by Field Marshals Hengsbach and Hawkins,ending the Federal Republic of Tolington.

Military

The Tolington Republican Army was made up of around 12,000 troops,made up of mostly armed and poorly trained civilians, and fell under the direct command of the Chief of Staff of the Tolington Republican Army, General Thomas Woods. The Tolington Republican Navy was made up of an armored cruiser and two torpedo boat destroyers and was lead by the Head of Naval Operations, Admiral Vilhann Shields. All three vessels of the Navy would be sunk in the ensuing battle with Admirals Kelsen and Heilmann's fleet and Admiral Shields was killed. After Woods's death on May,10th, command passed to General Barrett for the final three days of the uprising.
