Earth in Tribulation

200 years into the future the world is a much darker place, and while it is not known to the people of this earth the times known as the "Great Tribulation" loom in the not so distant future. Agents of both good and evil are manifest in the world and the myriad factions that have worked for centuries if not millennia to be prepared for these times are more active than ever.   Much has changed in the two centuries since the times we are familiar with. Escalations between the west and the mid east intensified. Nationalists and Globalists continued to escalate their political agendas against each other until finally, in 2076, the two sides clashed in open conflict. The Catholic church, attempting to maintain peace in Europe, stepped in to attempt a peaceful resolution but was met with resistance from the Arab League and accusations of attempting to leverage the political situation to it's own ends creating more friction. By the year 2082 AD the United Nations looked to be dissolving, under the leadership of President Aldrich the United States withdrew from the organization, followed shortly by Canada and Russia. By 2083 China had stepped in to take over and their was a clear divide, with the Globalist's maintaining membership or joining the UN and the Nationalists withdrawing to go it alone. The by product was war.   2085 marked the beginning of the unification war. The Globalists unanimously declared war on the sovereign states, and it wasn't long before the color of the battle lines became clear, with the majority of the Democratic nations on the side of sovereign independence and the former communist and theocratic states on the side of the UN.   The war persists through to the beginning of our game, with Israel being the furthest outpost of the Nationalists, surrounded by enemies but strongly defending her borders.
