What To Expect

GM/Narrator

Greetings, Marvelites! I am your Narrator (Game Master), Jack. You may refer to me as either. I am super excited to craft stories together in this shared world we've created called Earth-618. The following guide will help you acclimate yourself to our little corner of the Marvel Multiverse; Earth-618. A unique, divergent timeline inhabited by plenty of original heroes and villains as well as many familiar faces.
I have been running this system for 16 months with a community of like-minded individuals. Our community has thrived over the last year and a half while awaiting the full release of the Marvel Multiverse RPG and we are so thrilled to share our world with you.

Player Expectations

I expect my players to be punctual and on time, with their computer/laptop, microphone, Discord, roll20 and character sheets prepared and ready.
I will not tolerate mid-session discussion regarding my interpretations of the rules; if you disagree with a ruling, I will be more than glad to discuss it with you after the session or in Discord later on. I will timeout and/or kick players who wish to disrupt the game for what is called "rules lawyering".
This is Earth-618; it is not the same as Earth-616, or Earth-199999, or any other alternate reality within the Marvel Universe. This is my creation and things may be different here. Do not assume certain tropes, or reference meta-knowledge applicable to certain scenarios, characters, or events.
I, above all else, strive to create an immersive experience; I will not tolerate individuals who continually seek to break immersion, discuss unrelated topics, or otherwise derail a session.

Style

We typically run games in a "West Marches" style campaign, where heroes can drop-in and drop-out of sessions and story arcs with ease. It has led to a dynamic, ever-changing environment where anything can and will happen.
Our sessions are typically a good mixture of combat and roleplay, with the occasional puzzle solving. For the most part, we promote a PG-13 environment and combine a good mixture of light-hearted comedy and serious character development. That being said, we do explore more serious themes from time to time that includes what could be considered sensitive material. We handle such instances with maturity and the utmost respect.

Setting

Our next campaign will be taking place on Earth-618 once more, but twenty years in the future and well into the Corporate Age. (A sort of new dawning of an age that sees the world's corporations begin to gain global power).
You will all be students at the illustrious Manhattan Academy for the Gifted, a superhero academy training tomorrow's heroes. Your player characters will start at Rank 2 and will likely remain as such for some time. We are discussing the potential to have "spin-offs" and one-shots involving player characters of a higher Rank.

Schedule

We run sessions at 6:30 PM EST. Most sessions are scheduled well in advance (with 24 hours notice) through the use of Discord and an event bot, Apollo. It's a first come, first serve basis but I like to ensure the attendance to sessions is dispersed across the community to ensure everyone has a chance to play.
That being said, there are opportunities for exclusive attendance sessions and invite-only sessions.

Personality

We are a close-knit group of gamers ranging from the ages of 18 to 45+. We are passionate about comic books, video games, and all things nerdy. We promote a safe environment that aims to be inclusive to all individuals.
We carry a chaotic energy about us that can often wander and explore our collective imaginations. We theorize often on potential scenarios, timelines, or outcomes to events within the Marvel Universe.
We are a light-hearted group of individuals who enjoy strong roleplaying experiences, serious character development, and (most importantly) having fun!

We have a community Patreon that we use to help fund our gaming; the funds being used to purchase additional content for the Marvel Multiverse RPG system as well as other benefits for the community. Game Restrictions

You will under no circumstances allowed to play either a villain or an anti-hero. You MUST be a hero and act as such. You will be held accountable for your character's actions both in-game and out. Your character will be a student at an academy for gifted individuals; create a character conducive to this environment and that will work well with others. I will NOT entertain a "solo" experience.
The following Origins, Powers, Traits, etc. will not be accepted for this campaign:

Spider-Powers

Spider-Powers will be allowed, but must be "reflavored" to avoid connection to the Web of Life and Destiny. I will not be exploring the concept of the Web fo Life and Destiny until the planned Spider-Verse Expansion is released in 2024.

Symbiotes

You will not be allowed to play as a Symbiote/Klyntar.

Mutants/X-Men

Mutants do exist on Earth-618, but the majority of them are "new mutants", born within the last two to three decades. There was an event called the Mutant Exodus that let to the majority of Earth-618's mutants seeking sanctuary off-world in another alternate reality known as Earth-816. Upon the completion of that exodus, the memories of the X-Men (and subsequent X-related teams) were wiped from humanity's memories by Professor X.
As such, you may play as a mutant, but you will have no known connection to the X-Men as their existence was erased from history. (This is done to correlate with the release of the X-Men Expansion and whatever Marvel has planned for that).

A.I. Lifeforms

Currently in Earth-618 circa 2042, there is a global ban on unrestricted, unsanctioned, and unmonitored usage of A.I. due to Jet-Black and Ultron's involvement in the Symbiote Invasion.

Original Creations/Legacy Characters

You MUST play as an original creation; there may be the opportunity to take up the mantle of previous legacy characters, but avoid centralizing your character around that or at least provide a path to achieving that goal as opposed to having it bestowed or granted to your player character.

Disciplinary Actions

We are a fairly lenient community when it comes to most things, but we will not tolerate destructive, belligerent, or blatantly rude individuals. You will be warned by a Moderator (or the Narrator) about any discretions; further offenses will result in the termination of your participation in our community.

Conclusion
