Troll

Created by Christopher Moore

Basic Information

Anatomy

Trolls basic build is similar to humans, but they are much taller (around seven feet), slimmer, and stronger. Trolls have varying shades of grey and green skin with large and multiple birthmarks somehow reminiscent of both veins of ore and cow spots. Most trolls have olive green hair like hanging moss or seaweed, with small black, dark brown, or grey horns perched on top. The horns are mostly fused to the skull, but with small upturned points at the ends. All trolls sink in water, but they also can all breathe underwater

Genetics and Reproduction

Trolls do not reproduce in the way that many other species do; an entire troll clan will gather and infuse a carved rock with their magic so that it comes to life as a newly born troll.

Growth Rate & Stages

Troll children grow rapidly; they are ready to start learning the ways of their kind the morning after they are born (this is much due to the fact that the new troll is usually carved in the image of a young child, but not an infant), and after about six lunar years they will have reached adolescence and will make a home for themselves. However, once a troll is fully grown, the aging process stops almost completely, for trolls will live forever if they do not befall deadly hunger, sickness, or mortal wounds.

Ecology and Habitats

Different Troll Clans prefer different biomes; Anreag live in the oceans and seas, Avontelu in rivers and small lakes, Kidranen in forests and among plants, Korafaid among green hills and pastures, Mynydori in and on mountains, and Maivogae in caves and underground tunnels.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Trolls eat little, for they are semi-autotrophic. They do, however, eat nuts, berries, and leaves. Trolls also must drink much water and spend time standing still to absorb nutrients from the soil.

Biological Cycle

Trolls colors change slightly with the seasons

Additional Information

Social Structure

Trolls are mainly solitary, but clan meetings are every New Moon, and at times of emergency.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Trolls sometimes make mutual agreements with men to guard their borders in exchange for peace between them.

Facial characteristics

A long face, long nose, long pointed ears, and yellowy eyes with reflective irises are all prominent characteristics of a troll face.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Anreag-the Great Ocean, Avontelu-northern and middle world rivers and lakes, Kidranen-Verinoth, Korafaid-the misty hillocks, Mynydori-the (undecided name) Mountains, and Maivogae-the caves of the (same undecided name) Mountains.

Average Intelligence

Trolls are not often learned in obscure knowledges like what an unfortunately large number of people think is intelligence, but they are intelligent in the ways of sensibility, the lay of their land, and how to survive.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Trolls can hear and see in the dark better than humans, but they have no supernatural senses besides the ability to hear a call from their Troll Circle.
