Inclusivity within Dyrn

In a world where the influence of the Fey has historically been strong, certain traditional social expectations that might be expected in a medieval-style setting have been significantly altered by contact with inhabitants of the Feywild. During the War for the Dawn, much of the world was under the rule of the elves, themselves being driven by the influence of the Seelie and Unseelie courts. And although that long occupation ended many centuries ago, it's effects on social traditions and expectations have become integrated into the various cultures that remain within Dyrn.   The Fey have little regard for what might be considered traditional ideas surrounding gender, or sexual expression. For the fey, desire shapes reality. The Fey pursue their passions above all else, and wanting something can alter their very physicality.   The lingering effects of their time in the world are that traditional gender roles are no longer applicable within most cultures upon Dyrn. For a time the world was dominated by two warring courts led by queens. As a result, opportunities, rights and responsibilities are generally open to all people regardless of gender or sexual preference.   Other gender stereotypes are also flexible. Civil, romantic and sexual relationships are accepted regardless of gender.   Finally, the lingering influence of the Fey in this world means that for certain individuals whose physicality does not meet their gender, the desire to change this dissonant identity can be enough to bring that change to fruition. Such lucky individuals may find themselves inexorably drawn to dark dells or hidden forest groves where the power of the fey still lingers. They may find themselves compelled to dance, or to sleep and dream, or to offer gifts. In any case, these individuals, known as feywrought leave these places permanently altered, their physicality polymorphed to match their desired gender.
