Cormyr

Cormyr, often referred to as the Forest Country or the Land of the Purple Dragon, is a prosperous nation located in interior Faerun. Founded in 26 DR, the country is a constitutional monarchy still ruled by the founding Obarskyr family. Between the years of 376 DR and 432 DR, the country was under near-constant invasion by dragons. One of the more notable invaders was Thauglor, the Purple Dragon (in actuality a black dragon turning purple with age). Following this tumultuous period, Cormyr adopted the Purple Dragon as its official symbol, even lending the name to its military. The capital and most populous city in Cormyr is Suzail. Noble Cormyrean families of note include the Windrivvers, the Silverbrookes, and the Hillmantles. Many Waterdhavian noble families also have roots in Cormyr, including the Montaignes.
