Andrey Farrow

Andrey Farrow (a.k.a. "Weaver")

Weaver is a clever and analytical man with what he deems to be "sufficient" interpersonal skills. He is calculating and handsome in his own way, which gives him an edge. A bit of a snob, but at least he's a snob who always has a plan b.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Andrey is a slim man. His build suggests he could bulk up if he wanted, but he is not physically active and does not prioritize his physique. His belly is soft, and he is not muscular.

Body Features

He has no tattoos or piercings. However, he does have a scar on his right shoulder where a bullet once grazed him; a fine reminder of why he's not yet ready to return to his family.

Facial Features

He has a straight nose and lovely blue eyes. His features are fine; he is a very attractive man who looks younger than his age.

Physical quirks

The scarring on his right shoulder leaves him with some difficulty using that arm at times, so he favours his left to the point where it is noticed. His right hand is his dominant one, but his left is well trained at this point.

Apparel & Accessories

Andrey favours intricately embroidered waistcoats and long, heavy coats, high-waisted trousers and ever-shiny socks. His wardrobe is a few years outdated; it's largely what he brought with him when he left his family. He tends towards black as the dominant color.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

The Farrow family is, officially, a wealthy noble family with a gorgeous family estate in Brightstone. Officially, they have contact with most of the city's nobles at various soirées and dinners, ranging from the new money to the Lords of the city. Especially the Lords of the city. Unofficially, they are smugglers and traffickers, working alongside (and often with) The Unseen, supplying the denizens of Doskvol with everything from imported luxury goods and designer drugs to slaves.   Andrey Farrow was supposed to be their scion. He was educated with the best tutors money could buy, then sent off to College of Imperial Science to study Political Science. He graduated with top marks. He was sent to command the family's largest leviathan hunter ship, and for a time he did exceptionally well at it.   Until it was decided that Andrey should have someone to keep an eye on him, and he was sent what amounted to a co-commander: the second son of the Durovlin family. His name was Remir Durovlin. He was younger than Andrey, and extremely resentful of being sent to babysit someone who held a position he himself would likely never have. Nevertheless, he was determined to succeed, and he scrutinized Andrey-- which led to the two of them developing an antagonistic relationship.   Around this time, Andrey also developed his drinking problem.   It wasn't exactly that Andrey liked alcohol, or the taste of it. He didn't even do anything very uninhibited. He just liked privately drinking himself into a stupor so he could forget about his responsibilities and about the eyes that tracked his every move as soon as he ventured outside his bedroom.   One night, Remir had come upon Andrey while in that position, and he had just stood there for the longest time. He'd almost looked smug. Normally, the two of them wasted no opportunity to bicker and snipe at one another, but Remir hadn't said a word that night. He'd carried Andrey to the bathroom, bent his head over the toilet to make him puke, and washed him. When Andrey, voice hoarse and ragged, has asked why, Remir offered no reply. Instead, he simply stroked Andrey's hair soothingly until he passed out.   The next day Andrey woke up, his room was tidy. There was a carafe of water and a glass on his bedside table, along with some biscuits and a bottle of opioid painkiller.   It became plain that Remir felt he had won. But this perceived victory, ironically, made life far more bearable for Andrey: Remir no longer trailed his every step, no longer watched his every move. Now, Andrey felt no need to drink himself into a stupor.   The two still argued, but only over matters of command. They became something like friends, and on a few memorable occasions shared a bottle of wine or two together over major victories. The last time anything like that happened, Remir sat a little too close and drank a little too fast. After gulping down his last glass, he swiftly moved even closer and attempted to kiss Andrey, who carefully dodged the attention and made an only somewhat humorous comment about the quality of the wine. Remir excused himself and left Andrey's quarters.   Shortly afterwards, a letter was sent to Andrey. He was to return home. There was important family business to be dealt with, and surely that young Durovlin man was capable of handling the ship on his own for a time. As he had been trying to patch things up with Remir, who seemed to be pretending he could not recall what had happened, Andrey agreed.   Upon his return, he was made aware of a letter Remir Durovlin had sent, wherein he outlined his concern about Andrey's habits. "Many times," he wrote, "your son has invited my person into his quarters to imbibe of wine... He proceeds to inebriate himself to the point of helplessness. I apologise for my impertinence, but I cannot but feel he needs help, not a command." His parents showed the appropriate concern. He would be allowed his command back after a grace period, and this was as good a time as any to introduce him to the other side of the family business.   But in his anger, Andrey picked up his vice where he had left it, and in so doing he proved his family right. After a year of failure open failure and especially after a particularly disastrous attempt at negotiating that failed (largely due to the interference of a screwdriver, a radioactive meal, and two particularly angry rodents), he was driven to exile. His family pronounced him a hopeless failure, and he would no longer be allowed to go by the name of Farrow. When he attempted to protest this verdict, to ask for another chance, his father drew one of his pistols. Andrey still remembers how his blood drained from his face. "You would not murder your oldest in cold blood, Father," he tried to argue.   His father smiled. Coldly. Maliciously. "You may be right." He tilted his pistol slightly to the left and shot so that the bullet shot past Andrey. "That was a warning, but I will not hesitate to wound you. Run to your chambers, boy, as you did when you were a child and I threatened to beat you, and get your things. If I ever see you again, I hope to have rid myself of this hesitation."   Andrey ran, as his father fired several shots after him. Had his father wanted to hit him, he likely would have. Instead, only one bullet hit him, grazing his right shoulder enough that he thought for a moment he might die anyway, from the blood loss. That scar would continue to ache until his dying day.   He was seen out by a maid who had been working for his family for years, Jennah Arran. She had been his childhood nurse, and she was a kindly middle-aged woman. She pitied the young man, perhaps more than she should have, and she quietly promised him she would help him in whatever way she could.   After this, his goal changed. He would build a criminal network of his own, he decided. Without the help of his family, but through his own interpersonal skills. It would become grand, and it would elevate his name-- Andrey Weaver, or just "Weaver"-- to such a height that his family could not ignore him. He would be the head of it. He would be so important that his family would have to offer him his position back. If they did not, he would simply absorb them into his own business, and then he would force them to make him the heir again.   One of his first heists targeted a vault filled with riches. Andrey was to retrieve a specific statuette and leave no sign of entry. In order to do so, he befriended a lonely master architect: a man in his 30s named The Architect Augus Novotný.   Augus was a socially awkward man with an appearance that might have been attractive if he knew how to make it so. Andrey found him at a party and struck up a conversation designed to make Augus feel at ease: he asked about Augus' work and feigned surprise and fascination when Augus revealed how many of the city's more recent famous buildings he had designed-- including the vault in question. "Tell me more about your work over dinner one day," he implored Augus. "I have never known an architect before and I should like to learn more!" Augus, grateful for the attention and relieved to feel like someone worth talking to, agreed.   Over the course of a few weeks, dinners turned into lazy wine-drunk evenings spent together playing chess and chatting. One night, Andrey feigned to be so drunk he could not get home, and he spent the night on Augus' sofa. That night, he snuck into Augus' office to retrieve the plans, and he did so successfully. He was even able to return the blueprints before anyone would notice the statuette was missing. The only thing he had forgotten to account for was the lingering scent of his cologne, which Augus had come to notice with a particular fondness over the last few weeks.   It was another lazy evening of chess and wine when Augus confronted him, and Andrey admitted the truth: yes, he had initially approached Augus with the specific intent of finding the blueprints. Would Augus report him? No, decided Augus. Good. Would Augus believe Andrey if he said he had come to genuinely enjoy the architects' company, and otherwise he would not continue to spend time with him? Again, the answer was no. Augus' house would be closed to Andrey from now on, which-- strangely-- saddened Andrey.   Augus would continue on to become a fast rival of Andrey, opting always for the designs which offered maximum security. Never again would he be fooled by a charming young man who meant to use him, he vowed, and he would get his revenge on the one who had hurt him.   Recently, he has also come into the company of a young hedonist known as "Red". Andrey's keen eyes picked up on Red's instinct to follow a leader as well as his natural charm-- so much more easygoing than Weaver's own-- and arranged things so they would meet. They have been fast companions ever since. Andrey values Red's loyalty and usefulness, and that is all he allows himself to ponder. Red has helped a blackout drunk Andrey more than once. Andrey isn't sure what to make of that-- neither the easily offered help nor the fact that he allows it.

Gender Identity

Andrey is a cisgender man.

Sexuality

Andrey prefers women, but the rare and extraordinary man who can catch his attention does exist. He has no qualms about flirting with people he's not attracted to if it will help him get what he needs.

Education

Degree in Political Science from the College of Imperial Sciences

Employment

Criminal; unaffiliated, looking to head his own faction.

Accomplishments & Achievements

  • Successfully commanded the leviathan hunter ship the Eurydice for a period of two years
  • So far, he has survived!
  • Multiple successful (though minor) heists

Failures & Embarrassments

  • Being distrusted by his own parents enough that he was sent a co-commander
  • Having his vice uncovered by Remir
  • Losing command of the Eurydice
  • Failing to run the underground operations of House Farrow
  • Being disowned by his family
  • Being forced to run to his chambers and shot in the process
  • Having his motives discovered by Augus

Mental Trauma

  • Daddy issues
  • Excessively bad self-esteem

Intellectual Characteristics

Clever, organised. Good with people, way with words. Subtle. Easily driven to stress, and overindulges in alcohol and Dream Smoke when available; seeks an escape from himself. Does not like metaphysical or philosophical questions, with the exception of questions about ethics.

Morality & Philosophy

Generally speaking, he is not a good person, and the closest thing he has to a moral code would be "they will pay" and "if they do not take measures to protect themselves, they do not deserve mercy, but the same goes for me".

Taboos

Andrey would not force his attentions on someone. He also generally prefers to not murder people, but that rule is negotiable if it will help his cause or if that person happens to be a dick.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Andrey wants to exact revenge on his family for the way he feels they have humiliated him. To do this, he wants to become a crime lord with a name to rival the Farrow family's name. But in a pinch, he'd be happy to report them to the authorities, too.

Savvies & Ineptitudes

Andrey is good with people. He reads them well, and he connects well with them. He is also good at learning and retaining information; he is a planner.   He is, however, physically inept. He is not in particularly good shape, and he is not a particularly good combatant in any sense of the word.

Likes & Dislikes

Andrey enjoys wine and liquor. He is not picky about quality, but he does want as high an alcohol percentage as possible. He also favours the drug dream smoke.   Andrey does not like ale or beer. He also doesn't drink moderately. He dislikes feeling patronised or condescended to, although he'll suppress his anger if it's for the sake of a mission. He hates feeling humiliated.   He has a general distaste for unnecessary cruelty, and aspires to be a gentleman criminal for the most part.

Virtues & Personality perks

Andrey is charming and friendly, and somewhat surprisingly he does often sympathise with outsiders and the poor. He will attempt to be kind, and he prefers to not hurt anyone. Murder, to him, is the worst thing you can do to someone. Anything else is something they can learn to live with.   As such, he prefers to not kill anyone unless he feels it is necessary.

Vices & Personality flaws

Andrey is a prideful and selfish man with an obsessive need for revenge and who enjoys few things in life more than drugging himself to the point of stupor.   On a much less serious note, he can't remember the last time he received a compliment he deemed to be genuine. If he ever did, he's not entirely sure what he'd do with it. "Sounds fake but ok" is... probably not an acceptable response. Right?

Personality Quirks

Andrey favours his left hand, although it is not his dominant hand, due to the painful scarring on his right shoulder. He gets twitchy when he goes too long without a night of oblivion. He clears his throat more often than the average person, and unless he is in game mode for a heist he has a hard time hiding his anger.

Hygiene

Andrey is obsessively clean, and generally wants to draw a bath every night. He uses a particular brand of cologne, which is distinctive, although he forgoes it if he is on a mission. He can't stand being or feeling dirty.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Mikhail Vladimirovich Farrow: Andrey's father, and likely the man he inherited his cruel tendencies from, Mikhail is a likewise pale, freckled, redheaded man. He is more strongly built than Andrey, a fact he held against his son from a very young age. He is the head of House Farrow, and he rules it with an iron fist. He is a man Andrey used to admire very much, and though he hates to admit it Andrey still quietly wishes he were more like his father.   Vera Ignatyevna Farrow: Andrey's mother, a particularly slender woman almost twenty years younger than her husband. Her hair is such a pale tone of blonde that it approaches white, and her skin tone is particularly pale and clean with no impurities at all. Her appearance is that of a pretty, meek and submissive wife, and she has a particular ability to instill a protective urge in men. Underneath the surface, however, she is every bit as cruel and selfish as her husband, and the two are deeply in love. She makes most of the decisions pertaining to the smuggling the two do, whereas he heads the surface business. She and Andrey were close once, but when he grew into a disappointment she seemed to very suddenly cease to love him. Andrey has wondered if he has inherited his ability to feign affection from her-- if she ever actually loved him at all.   Anatole Ilyin Farrow: Andrey's younger brother, presumably now the scion of House Farrow. Anatole inherited his father's strong build and his mother's unearthly pallor, and he was the favourite son from an early age on, a fact he took to with great pleasure. He is well-versed in poetry and to Andrey's knowledge has no real vices except a vicious sadism and bloodlust. Andrey adored his younger brother as a baby and a toddler, but came to resent him when he became the favourite son.   Remir Durovlin: Andrey's other rival, a younger son of a different house who attempted to usurp the Eurydice from Andrey's command. Sometimes, Andrey still wonders how differently his life would have gone if he had agreed to become Remir's lover-- if it was a ruse from Remir's side or if life would have continued on as usual.   Jennah Wright: The maidservant who had tended to Andrey as a child. She feels affection for Andrey and has sworn to help him in whatever way he requires, even if that means the fall of House Farrow. She did not approve of the way he was removed from the family, and keeps him up to date on the family gossip. Once or twice she has stolen a document for him-- a receipt for a certain purchase, or a page from a checking book.   Augus Novotný: An architect that Andrey initially befriended for selfish purposes, but whose company he eventually came to enjoy. Augus learned of Andrey's deceit and vowed to never be fooled again, and also to make Andrey's criminal activities as difficult as possible.   Red: Perhaps the closest thing Weaver has to a friend, Red is an exceptionally loyal sort of employee. His commitment puzzles Weaver, but he uses it for all it's worth.

Family Ties

Andrey has a small family he does not much care for. There are aunts and uncles, but the family has never been close to them, and the grandparents died before Andrey was born.

Religious Views

Andrey is not much of a believer in anything.

Social Aptitude

Andrey is exceptionally skilled socially, and generally blends in with ease. His biggest flaw is that he can seem quite haughty, and that he is not much of a social drinker-- unless he can drink himself into a stupor he generally does not see the point anymore.

Mannerisms

Andrey keeps his back ramrod straight at all times, and still assumes a military posture if he does not mind himself. He has an easy smile when he wants to be charming, but normally he tends to be serious, even surly.

Hobbies & Pets

Andrey has no pets, but he does feed a stray ginger cat which wanders around his apartment from time to time. Apart from that, he enjoys a bad romance novel almost to excess. Heaving bosoms, low-cut nightgowns...

Speech

Prim and proper.

Wealth & Financial state

Andrey used to be very wealthy and still maintains an extensive wardrobe, carefully styling himself so as to not make it obvious that all his clothes are a few years out of fashion.

Handsome, clever, deeply vengeful gentleman looking to punish his family by becoming someone they cannot ignore.
