Personal history

Hailing from the northern part of Pelustro, in a city called: Paendley. Gragal grew up like any other Goliath: Cold Hearted. With the young age of 13 he began training in order to become a Soldier, aiming to fight in the next revolution- if there even is one. He learned the Arts of the Shield, and always kept one at Hand. It kept him safe, and he kept it safe. It was the only thing he trusted.
Months later, now having turned 14, his hometown fell victim to a Mercenary Raid. Gragal went into the Frey, disobeying the orders of his Trainer to stay hidden. He attempted to fight a Mercenary while only armed with a club and shield. Gragal was quickly outmatched by the Mercenary as it's Mace swiftly connected with the head of Gragal, causing him moderate Head trauma. This caused him to develop Horner's Syndrome and Dyslexia.
He looked away with expectancy of Death, his shield laying meters away and broken; shattered by the Bandit's Mace. While bracing for impact, he heard the Thud that forever changed his life. It was the sound of Metal hitting Metal. He looked up and there stood a Warrior, dressed in Plate and braced with an Iron Shield. A leather cape flew on it's back as it fluttered in the cold winds. He looked up to the Plated Hero, unknowing to him. He's never met him, yet he protected him from certain death and put himself in danger.
Gragal passed out from his head injury several minutes later. He woke up in a Temple dedicated to Helm. It was located several Hours away from his Hometown Paendley. After he woke up, his eyes quickly met with a Person who has long, brown hair and a goatee. He had a scar over his left eye, however he wasn't blinded by it. It wasn't a Goliath as he expected, but a Human. Gragal asked him who he was, and why he saved him. " I am Matiero Vegenzas. " the person spoke in a gruff yet soothing voice. " My group and i were passing through the lands of Pelustro and stumbled across your little town being attacked by Mercenaries. We were escorting townsfolk, and then i saw you, about to be killed by that Scoundrel. ". Gragal was confused and answered " But why did you save me. A complete Stranger. ". Matiero cracked a slight smile " Protecting innocents is my job, as a Paladin of Helm i swore to Protect those who couldn't Protect themself. And i'm willing to risk my life for that of the Innocents. ".
Gragal reluctantly thanked the Paladin and made his way back Home. Upon arrival in the Barracks of his Training station, he was met with a stern lecture. " You went out there, disobeyed my orders and almost get yourself killed! we have no place for reckless people like you.". With those words Gragal was thrown out of Future Soldier Training. Too ashamed to return Home, Gragal sat at the Debris of his Hometown and began swaying through thoughts. The Paladin popped back into his Head, and what he said touched Gragal's cold heart. " To Protect those who cant Protect them self ". Those words meant something to Gragal now.
He visited his parents and told them he resigned from the training, to be trained as a Paladin of Helm. He will protect others, so they wont be victim of that what he had experienced. Thus he left his Hometown to train for several years under the Priests and Paladins of Helm, to become a Paladin of Helm Himself.
Now, he roams the lands looking to lend a hand to strangers and living life to the fullest.
