Phase Caster

The Precursor Phase Caster is a tremendously deadly infantry weapon - in the right hands, that is. And those hands are robotic.
Each arrow is made of hexagonal diamonds, their internal crystalline structure forged via the precise application of heat and impact pressure. These heavy arrows are 50% harder than traditional diamond, and are amongst the hardest materials in existence.
This bow is far more than a traditional projectile weapon: emitters within are able to temporarily change the electron spacing within the arrow’s atoms, the change occurring as the shaft of the arrow passes through in flight. This change in spacing allows the arrow to temporarily “phase” through most forms of matter, resolidifying at a point determined by the user. The arrow can thus pass through armor, cover, or even friendly units, before striking the target with deadly force. A remote link between the Precursor’s mind and the computational matrix within the bow makes possible the split-second computations necessary to aim, calibrate, and fire this unique payload.
And, if that wasn’t sufficient, the arms each house a short sword - these swords are relatively tame in comparison, but are of excellent quality. Notches stamped out in the sheathes expose the blades, making the bow a last-resort razor-sharp cudgel in close combat.
The Precursors were able to exert the necessary draw strength and activate the phase capabilities due to their bionic physiology. In modern times, only Automata or enhanced individuals would be able to use the original arrows, although a skilled user could fire it provided they had more conventional projectiles available. Experiments in the lab have successfully powered the phase mechanism, but no one currently exists that incorporates the necessary remote mental connection to make use of it in the field.
Notes: Well, that last part was true up until the 4th Battle of The Vault. In the middle of combat, someone claiming to be a time-lost Precursor, released from the Dim with our attackers, suddenly plucked the bow right out of its containment module. Which was fine in hindsight; seeing it’s specialized arrows tear through an entire line of creatures, while others hacked away at our enemies with the twin swords unsheathed from the arms, is a sight I will not soon forget.
