Ulfgar Bronzebeard

Born and raised in a small subterranean village nestled deep within the Prisma Mountains of Peloria, Ulfgar grew up in a large and loving family. Unfortunately love alone cannot put food on the table, and their family grew up very poor.

A Very Dwarven Cruelty

The Dwarves of the mining community were led by a cruel foreman, who sought only to enrich himself while leaving the families of the village destitute. As the youngest child, Ulfgar could do little more than dream of a life of freedom and riches. Despite having a hardworking father, there was never quite enough food on the table, and after toiling for over 40 years Ulfgar could see the desperation growing in his father.

Overheard Whispers

One night, Ulfgar overheard a desperate plot of his fathers, a plot that would allow their family to escape the cycle of poverty they had become trapped in. Wishing to be of aid, Ulfgar begged and pleaded for 3 weeks to his father, until he finally relented and disclosed the details to his youngest son.   The plan was simple. The foreman kept much of his stolen riches within a single vault, so all they had to do was break into it and take enough to fund their escape. Careful timing allowed the pair to bypass the security surrounding the vault with ease, eventually finding themself before a thick, and slightly ajar, iron door. Seeing this as a sign of good fortune, the two Dwarves hastened into the vault and began looting.   Hearing echoes approaching the vault, Ulfgar was swiftly ushered into a small service shaft by his father and given the bag of valuables. Ulfgar could only watch in fear as his father was apprehended. Calak pled for mercy and spoke at length to the cruel foreman of the mines. For a moment, Ulfgar believed that perhaps his father would talk his way out of this transgression. The foreman reached out and hugged Calak, and Ulfgar barely had time to register the glint of steel as a dagger punched deep into his fathers back. Paralysed by fear, Ulfgar barely heard the foreman command his guards to slaughter the family of the traitor before him.

A Sense of Purpose

For 3 days, Ulfgar sat alone in the dark service shaft of the vault. Unable to think, unable to act. It wasn't until the dawn of the fourth day that Ulfgar began to slowly come to his senses, a strange flickering light visible out of the corner of his eyes. His father killed before his eyes and his entire family extinguished, Ulfgar knew there was nothing left for him here. Following the shaky light and fleeing the community, the young dwarf sought out the life of freedom and adventure he had often dreamed about. It was only when he reached the city of Peloria that he learned of the nature of true divinity. Servants of the Dawnfather channelled powerful magics to further the goals of good, even healing and reincarnating lost souls that had been taken before their natural end.   As the Dwarf looked upon the beauty, he was struck by a realisation. He never had found the source of the strange light that had brought him out of his stupor and doubtless saved his life. It was clear in Ulfgars mind that the Dawnfather had been with him that day, witnessing the injustice of the event. Latching on to this sense of purpose, Ulfgar entered the city and sought out the Clerics of Pelor, eager to join their illustrious ranks.
