Bane - God of Conquest and War

Once a mortal human, Bane ascended to Godhood during the Dawn Era after the fall of Nerull. A hateful God, Bane is a masterful manipulator that prefers never to act in a direct manner. Instead he wields his worshippers and other agents as his weapons.

Shepherd of Death

A popular tale told on the gloomiest nights of the year revolves around the Ascension of Bane to his divine throne. During the age of strife and war at the beginning of Drass, there were many wars between the mortal races. From these wars, champions would arise, commonly known as The Chosen. The Chosen were mortals that had caught the eye of certain Deities, and the mortal Bane had caught the eye of Nerull, the God of Death and Winter.   A masterful swordsman and greatest warrior of his day, Bane became known as Nerulls Chosen, a Shepherd of Death. To face him in battle was to guarantee a place for yourself beyond the Gates of Pluton. It is not common knowledge how or why Bane turned on Nerull. Some stories say Nerull grew jealous of his Chosen and decided to humble him by taking his wife. Others say that Bane had always intended to become a Deity, and Nerull gave him an unmissable opportunity.

Tenets of Faith

Serve no one but Bane. Fear him always and make others fear him even more than you do. The Black Hand always strikes down those who stand against it in the end. Defy Bane and die - or in death find loyalty to him, for he shall compel it. Submit to the word of Bane as uttered by his ranking clergy, since true power can only be gained through service to him. Spread the dark fear of Bane. It is the doom of those who do not follow him to let power slip through their hands. Those who cross the Black Hand meet their dooms earlier and more harshly than those who worship other deities.
