Kylipno

At the center of the Dragoshi continent of Nixy lies it's capital city Kylipno. Nestled in a valley, surrounded by tall mountains, and guarded by the ferocious Royal Guard, the city is a safe place for all who live within it. The Greatest and most Royal of the Royal Families, the Emperise and his Diuki'i and DIkess', live in the city, behind a set of thick walls guarded by numerous Royal Guards, in a palace as black as Void's blood. To the Dragoshi, it's a place that brings pride in both their country and their people. To the A'ki, it's begrudgingly respected, but also a goal. To even get close to the city and live to tell the tale is a great feat.   Surprisingly, Kylipno helps produce a little something of everything. If anything, it's main export is a labor force. For instance, only 12% of all Dragoshi Military armor is made in Kylipno, but about 48% of the Dragoshi doing heavy, hard, or trade labors come from Kylipno. Kylipno is not the Dragoshi trade Capital though. It's location makes it very hard to trade with, and thus the Dragoshi Trade Capital belongs to another city.

Government

The Emperise, as with all aspects of the Dragoshi Empire, runs this settlement. However, unlike having the Dike's execute the Emperise's orders, in Kylipno the Emperise has direct control. They can give direct order's to the military, the police, the judges, and even the priests (though this is only in times of true emergency) and have them carries out. However, unlike the Dike's, the Emperise has Ministers to help them with their job of running the kingdom. The Artizloto, the Minister of Finance, a humbled Priest that helps the Emperise make religious decisions that won't piss of the entire church and Populus, and other's help keep more basic aspects of the Empire running.

Defences

Kylipno is situated in a vally surrounded by tall mountains, in the middle of Nixy, meaning it's going to be hard to get any A'ki invaders to get to it within a weeks time. Not to meantion that Kylipno houses the Royal Guard, which is an eliete group of guards dedicated to guarding the Emperise/Royal Family and protecting theme from their enemies. Along with it's natural walls, the city has multiple escape route for both the roayl family and the populus.

Industry & Trade

Since Kylipno is the Capital of Nixy, Kylipno creates a great many products. However, due to the way other major cities are placed, this means that Kylipno does not actually mass-produce stuff

Infrastructure

Kylipno is a fairly large city, so there's a lot that needs to be built to keep it running. Things such as:
  • Good Roads. And I mean good roads there's rarely a pothole in sight.
  • Sewers. Ones where the sewage goes to a treatment plant, and the litter gets removed. The A'ki have started wars over litter being put into the Ocean.
  • Incinerators. One's that help generate Thermal Energy that gets stored in backup batteries in the event there's a mass power outage.
  • Windmills/ Wind Generators THAT DONT HARM THE FUCKING CREATURES)
  • An Underground Tram System, since part of the city is built on top of the other due to a sudden Mesa/Platu terrain drop.
  • Railroads
  • Train Stations
  • Courtyards, gardens, Plaza's, and other assorted areas
  • Stables. The Dragoshi don't really like using cars. They're expensive, pollute the environment, and frankly dont do well on dirt roads or rural turrain. The answer? Lizard Horses.

Guilds and Factions

The Royal Dragoshi Family is the biggest faction in Kylipno, due to them ruling the entirety of Nixy. They make the laws, declarations, and other acts in place for the entirety of the Dragoshi people, and have a very huge impact on Kylipno due to them living there.   Another important faction is the Dragoshi Royal Guard. Not only are they the defenders of the Royal Family, but they also make up a large portion of Kylipno's defenses. They guard the road to the city, guard the outposts and lookout tower, the checkpoints, and the walls surrounding the Emperise's palace. They are recognizable due to their armor, which is much more detailed, fancy, and protective than the armor most of the Dragoshi military wear. They're also recognizable by the long, color-coded "Horse-hair" Blume that's on their helmets, which is color-coded to match the Dragoshi's blood color.   There are also other important factions within Kylipno. Some examples would be the "United Trade Workers of Kylipno" faction, which is a faction that exists to help protect the rights and wages of Dragoshi who are in the Trades and have gone to Trade Schools, meaning Electricians, Welders, Construction Workers, and others often are apart of this faction. There also exists the "Society of Dragoshi Education and Health," a faction made up of all sorts of Dragoshi of varying Blood Colors and professions and aims to protect the Dragoshi right to Education and Healthcare. Yes, Nixy has a healthcare system, but it's not like our healthcare, but this will be explained at a later time. Another excellent example would be "Kylipians for Wealth Monitoring," which is a financial faction thats dedicating to make sure that the Dragoshi with wealth aren't becoming so wealthy that it creates a large gap between the poor and the rich. The Emperise often seeks help from this faction in order to keep the high-blooded Dragoshi in line and to keep them from gaining excessive power due to their wealth. They also seek help from the faction to keep the lower-blooded Dragoshi in line, because if the gap between the poor and rich becomes too big, they riot. Thus, the "Kylipian for Wealth Monitoring" (or KWM,) has a large impact on not only Kylipno's financial system but the Dragoshi financial system as a whole.

History

Kylipno is one of the oldest Dragoshi cities in all of Nixy. While the date the city was founded is unknown, it's generally accepted that the city was built before the Unifying Conquer's, and sometime after the Ancient's Palace was mysteriously abandoned. When the ancient cities of the Blood Tiers were razed to the ground and destroyed by the Royal Family and their High Blood allies during the Unifying Conquer's, refugees fled (and occasionally were taken) to Kylipno, and many stayed and formed a city with a vibrant and unique culture.   Over the years, Kylipno has remained safe from rural and A'ki invasions behind its natural, mountainous walls and location. However, that does not mean that the city was always peaceful and safe. During the reign of the Twin Kings (or Twin Emperise), the city suffered greatly from not only the deplorable acts of the two Emperise but the act of the rebellion and riots that followed. The greatest riot, and the one that ended the rule of the Twin Kings, left the most damage. In Kylipno, riots are often the most destructive than any other major Dragoshi city: fires are set, weapons are thrown, and many people are executed, whether by hanging or by decapitation. During the Middle Period, many riots broke out protesting the use of guns and the effect, and due to the fact that the Emperise's of the time were often weak.   However, for the most part, Kylipno is far away from any major conflicts, perfering to carry out events from behind the safety of the mountains.

Architecture

The architecture of the city is so different from the architecture of the Emperise's Palace that it actually helps the Palace stand out greatly. Buildings often aren't more than 4 stories high, and are very close together. They look very much like the buildings in Dutch cities, but with shared backyards, balconies, and very tiny front yards. The higher blood's stay in large houses, often within close distance or right next to the houses of other high bloods. Their houses are often very Grandeouse, with many windows and fancy, detailed walls. Their houses, while not painted as brightly as the apartment's in the city, still are very bright. Red's, white's, blue's, and purples are very common exterior colors. The exteriors of all houses will often be build with stone or brick, with the higher bloods having more intricate stonework walls. However, interiors are often made of wood. The roof and roof tiles of the houses are styled, shaped, and painted in a way that will help absorb heat, as Dragoshi nights are often very cold.   It's very common to see a statue of a dragon, dragon-like animal or figure, or Dragoshi outside the doorway of the home. These are called "Juornokm," and are very integral to Dragoshi Society and the Dragoshi home. It's believed that, through a statue, a spirit can occasionally communicate with those in the world, or even interact with the world. Through these small statues, protector spirits or beings will protect the home from evil beings, but in return, they must be thanked, kept clean, and place a full meal once a day, during sunrise, in front of the diety. While all Dragoshi know that the statues dont actually eat the food, it's done because it's believed that if Dragoshi without a home eat the food of a Juornokm, they'll be protected for a day. These are different than the statues placed outside during the Dragoshi holiday of "Firelight." The statues placed outside during Firelight are believed to keep all evil spirts or beings off the Dragoshi and out of the household, and when the morning rises, they leave the statues and chase the evil beings out of the Universe, and return to the afterlife.

Geography

Kylipno, while a city, is a very beautiful place. The entire city is planted right in a large valley, in the middle of the Dragoshi continent. Part of the valley is a Mesa, which makes part of the valley higher than the other, but it's not extremely high. Not to mention that Kylipno, while still a large city, does not take up the entire valley (partially because part of Kylipno is built deep into the Mesa, making part of the city underground, but it's also because the city does not have suburban sprawl as cities on earth have). If one were the climb to the highest spot in the entire city, or the entire valley, one would be able to see it's natural beauty. Kylipno looks like a star sitting in a dark green and silver sky, while the surrounding valley is full of "Quarbak" and "Lurzel" tree's, who's Yellow and bright green (respectively) leaves glow during the night, and the Quarkbak's tree silver bark seems to occasionally glitter during the dew hours of the morning. The mountain's rise from the ground, grey stone and white peaks standing the test of time, a monument to all that Questioning Ponder and Necessity had made, and Void and Fire helped shape. A protector to all those living within its arms.   Kylipno itself is as beautiful as it's surroundings. It's colorful, quirky apartment buildings, stone streets, and (get this) fairy light's tied from lamp post to lamp post, give the city life. It's many parks, courtyards, market places, and plaza's that make the city feel even more vibrant, as they're often filled with people. And in the middle of this bright, colorful city, lies the Emperise's Palace. Behind a wall with wooden supports made of dark wood, stone walls, and white quartz pillars and decals, lies a large monolith of black obsidian stones carved with the most intricate and detailed stonework, with window's that are always clean, with box gardens that are never unweeded and always healthy, and with doors made of the darkest wood that's carved with the imagery of a great Dragoshi rising above the rest, leading their people to great victory. It's tall tower's rise into the skies, occasionally crossing paths with the moons. They're surrounded by many fantastical gardens, filled with every plant known to Dragoshi kind. It's inner courtyard, which the palace surrounds on all sides, and which the halls of the ground floor are open to, also is an amazing garden, and statues of the dead siblings of all the Emperise inhibit the grounds and interiors. It's truely a visual statement about the power and wealth the Emperise and their family possess.
