Isle of the Deathless

A demon cursed the inhabitants to prevent them from dying - visitors are unaffected - just those present when the curse was enacted. They've tried all manner of ways to kill themselves, and are all horribly mutilated.

1 The people stole something belonging to the demon
2 The demon was bound by a mage whose love was killed by the people
3 The people summoned the demon to bless them with immortality
4 The people bargained that no harm would come to them until some condition was met
5 The demon was bound to this island, and swore that as long as he was bound, the people would be too
6 The "demon" is actually an angel, who thought it was blessing the people
