Dunslough
Dunslough is a ghetto for the destitute poor of the city, as well as the site of Ironhook Prison and its labour camp. Originally, the ghetto was a neighbourhood for families of prisoners, but over the years, extreme poverty and neglect have worn it down into a sodden ruin. A vicious cycle plays out here: crime diven by desperation, then arrest incarceration and release back to Dunslough- giving Ironhook an endless supply of labourers to exploit.
The slums that surround the prison consist of decrepit wooden row houses, many of the are abandoned from fire damage or fallen in from age. metal sheds for dredging equipment and stone silos hold the results of the labour executed by the Mud covered individuals from the Mire. Destitute families scrounge for scraps along the roads sodden with thick black mud. Bored guards with rifles slung on their backs watch the taskmasters of the prison work their charges to the bone.
