House Vanderberg

Holding the largest building in (town)'s market, and many smaller buildings across the continent, House Vanderberg has established themselves as the premiere hunter-for-hire and weapon development organization above all the rest. Long before the days of custom firearms and unfathomable machinery Vanderberg was a simple merchant family known as the Volgraves importing gunpowder into the kingdom. Their company grew and as such so did their list of specialties, becoming the de facto monopoly on all things black powder. With time the company established workshops and firing ranges to test and sell their customized weaponry, wherein hunters from around the area began flocking to in order to improve and maintain their equipment, as well as buy new gear altogether. The concentration of hunters brought with them contractors and civilians, hoping to rid the area of a certain creatures whether they be big or small-- The owners of these workshops saw an opportunity to branch out once again, and Vanderberg quickly begun to add job boards to their stores that allow anyone and everyone to request assistance, for a price. One can expect to find experienced weaponsmiths and veteran hunters eager to share their knowledge of the world around them, and how to exploit it.

Structure

The founders of Vanderberg, the Volgraves, have long since perished. What remains in their place is a loose hierarchy of shopkeepers and ship captains working and competing with one another to become the most successful and well-known in the still rapidly growing industry. If there were any sense of a leader it would be the owner of the largest store under the Vanderberg name. Below them are the weaponsmiths employed by said owner, as well as the contractor that happened upon the location and was offered a job. The contractors handle the payment and recruitment of a broad range of hunters, each occupying their own niche at the bottom of the hierarchy-- yet still getting plenty of work and coin.

Culture

Being such a fragmented and rarely united organization, many different practices and customs have emerged from the minds of hunters and craftsmen alike-- each unique to the shop they came forth in. However, above all else the original values of the Volgrave family ring true, in a form. "Ones character is comprised of not what they have done, but of what the world around them has gained from it"-- a message which over the years hunters have put an unfortunate spin on, and now believe they have the freedom to do whatever they please as long as they make up for it in kills. After all, they are saving the populace from beasties on the regular, so who's to judge them if they take an extra loaf of bread?

Assets

As Vanderberg is an organization specialized in the development of weaponry, the broad range of weaponsmiths employed under the house bring constant new ideas and improvements to the world of firearms. The walls of any Vanderberg shop are lined with custom pieces deemed more than worthy of being displayed, some of which have even entered the production cycle and are now shipped out across the continent. Most notably of which has been the three slug shotgun, given as standard issue equipment to hunters as its stopping power is beyond remarkable. These well-equipped hunters attract folk from the area, and are more than eager to take a purse of coin to rid them of their troubles.
