At the dawn of the world, the Gods created all that exists until one of their own sealed them away from the material plane forever. In the Age of Disovery that followed many of the races had to find ways to connect with their gods. This was also a time where the many powerful magics taught to the people by the Gods during the Age of Creation were still known and practiced. The peoples of the world used this magic to craft great monuments as tributes to their Gods. The peoples of this time also forged many wonderus items many of which have been lost to time. The age of Discovery also saw the founding of an massive world spanning civilization, commonly called the Old Kingdoms or Old Kingdom by scholars. Little is known about these early kingdoms and their way of life but it is believed that magic played a central role in daily life and a multitude of magical items and spells were very common. Very few magical items from this period have survived and likewise very little of the literature survived.   The Elf Lords of the Old Kingdom built their wold-spanning empire with the help of the Dwarves and various slave races including Humans, Halfings, Orcs and many others. This sprawling kingdom was brought low by a internal rebellion and threats from beyond their borders the old kingdom crumbled during the Age of Fire.   The end of the Old Kingdom brought a period of bloodshed and chaos that lasted for centuries. The Age of Fire saw warlords rise and fall, great cities of the old kingdoms burned and other cities throwing off their old masters only to be retaken or burned to the ground a few years later. A great deal of knowledge was lost during this time period and very few if any records have survived the Age of Fire.   The chaos and death of the Age of Fire did end as new leaders and petty kingdoms arouse from the ashes of the Old Kingdom and with them brought an age of (relative) peace which let the new kingdoms and free cities chart their own path.   Now an new empire has risen and threatens the balance of the age of peace, the Sun Imperium. Using their discovery of black powder and other mechanical creations to propel their military might beyond the imagining of the rest of the world. They have conquered or acquired much of the continent and show no signs of slowing down.
