Wardir Caravan, the Wandering City

Description

Traveling through the Tanalosho wastes, there are a number of mobile settlements that are more commonly referred to as Caravans. Horses, camels, mules, and Giant Desert Ants are the most common beasts of burden to bring these caravans through the desert safely. Despite the tribal, nomadic lifestyle, they have developed an interesting approach of maintaining an appearance of normal civic life with several of the caravans having the ability to interconnect to each other while in motion.   The predominant demographic of the clan are consistent of Ratfolk. Despite their seemingly small size, their pride and personal strength are to be reckoned with. You'd be mistaken to think you can refer to them as "the Rat Race" without a tongue lashing, if not either of you to receive a beating.   The routes most commonly used touch along with a number of oases, ruins, and Nakarado townships so that they may restock on supplies, essential resources, and the occasional relic. Due to their extreme self-reliance in a hostile climate with no governing body to protect them, they have cultivated a strong mentality and discipline for tribal warfare. They deal frequently with other tribes and clans attempting to take their current route or steal some goods for themselves, but usually at a severe cost of life to the aggressor.

Culture

Nomadic, proud, independent, disciplined, sly, self-reliant, and patient. Desert life offers a radical level of freedom and slower pace in comparison to Nakarado. Due to the communal living, child-rearing is considered as much a responsibility of the whole clan, as opposed to strictly the parent. Often the people are raised on incredible stories passed on from the age of the War of Fae and Gods is often reckoned as the closest to the facts, as opposed to the canonized version within the Shogunate and outside of it. While traveling, people are either crafting finished goods between their routes or playing a popular game of the wasteland: Blind Trader. Their favorite leisure activity is a card game that promotes the idea of having a keen understanding of the theory of the mind, trade, deception, and confidence to squash deception. Due to this activity consuming most of the downtime, it is often considered a massive faux pas to attempt to deceive any member of this clan, even in the south of Nakarado. It is well known that the Wardir Caravan will always force a merchant to be honest, and fair, in his dealings.   On longer expeditions into the desert, it is relatively common for a few brave men and women to traverse into the ancient cities and ruins to attempt to find a relic of some kind, as they are deeply prized within Nakarado in Fae Temples. So prized that finding even one can purchase unfinished goods and supplies for a month for the whole Caravan.

Routes

The Wardir Caravan travels in a commonly seen "U" shape in varying degrees to avoid other caravans, issues, while maintaining adequate contact with Nakarado. The relative length that they will spend in the desert can be as short as three days, upwards to three months. They should be considered well stocked, and if needing to avoid trouble, they can travel much deeper into the desert and let the climate itself deal with potential aggressors.

Goods and Services

If it can be found in Nakarado, it can be found in greater variety in the Wardir Caravan. Their largest import are Tai Moss and water. Their largest exports range from Tai Dust, manufactured personal goods, relics, slaves, and Giant Desert Ants.
