Tai Dust

Tai Dust is manufactured in the region of Kuronaitai, farmed from the moss called Tai Moss in underwater cave systems along the coast of the province. Once harvested, it can be safely consumed while still wet, negating its other effects.
If you dry out the moss with exposure to 40 hours of summer sunlight, new properties can be acquired. Commonly, it is powdered and kept in dark, dry places. With greater age, the strong the potency.

Consumption

It can be eaten while wet for no effect. It cannot be mixed with water for the effect, even when dried originally. It can be snorted or smoked. 

Effects

The Dust once smoked or snorted will create an extraordinary burst of energy and focus, rendering the consumer resilient to extreme heat and cold. The feeling of hunger and starvation is neutralized. The need to sleep is eliminated. Depending on the age of the dust, it can affect the individual for a minimum of 24 hours upwards to 2 weeks. Most people who consume it prize the 24 to 48 hour variants.
The consumer is often addicted by the first consumption, requiring a strong will to use responsibly. It is often found used by the intellectual elite of Nakarado along with the military of Nakarado. It is recognized that a safe rate of consumption for minimal withdrawals would be once a week.
Withdrawals from Tai Dust are minimal if consumed responsibly, which include dry mouth, light sensitivity, and severe headaches. More severe withdrawals include acute nerve pain, a blurred mind, blindness, severe sweats, dry mouth, no thirst, no hunger. Severe withdrawals are recommended to be overseen by village medicine shamans.

Public Opinion

Due to it's extremely addictive effects, it is frowned upon for it's usage for the common citizen. It is considered a given, and forgiven, for use within the military. The public is generally supportive of helping individuals recover from addiction. The nature of the citizens of Nakarado include providing guidance into the hands of a medicine shaman, direct financial aide, and temporary suspension of even crimes that were committed, so long as they are getting help.

Legal Status

Perfectly legal within Nakarado. Considered illegal within Thalin Republic, to the point of meriting execution for simple possession.
