Distant Haven

In the far future of Humanity, the united nations of Earth were the center of a prosperous government stretching across hundreds of worlds. Though they had faced minor conflicts within and some hardships, humans had generally lived in an era of peace and plenty for centuries. They were expanding across their corner of the galaxy: colonizing worlds, terraforming planets, building cities, and studying the stars, all without a sign of significant trouble.   That changed only two decades ago. Alien ships, from a mysterious species called the Callemos, arrived at a human planet. Openly declaring their mission to bring humanity to its knees, these ships destroyed the human vessels in orbit, launched an invasion to destroy the ground forces, and methodically destroyed the planet from orbit. Humanity was now at war with a numerically superior, technologically advanced foe, with motives they didn't understand and financing from an alien alliance they didn't know anything about.   Within a few years, after bloody fighting and stunning defeats, it became clear that humanity was going to lose this war. It was likely that Earth would be discovered and destroyed by the end of the decade. So, rather than accept extinction, the human government decided that they would ensure at least a small portion of humanity survived this brutal conflict. They would send colony ships, loaded with thousands of civilians and as much technology as they could muster, as far away from their enemies as possible.   Amid this mass exodus, three massive colony ships set sail into the depths of deep space. Converging on the same distant star, their existence deleted from all human records and their memory erased from those who remained behind, these ships carried their precious cargo thousands of light years. Soon they left humanity, the Callemos, the entire war, completely behind. Except for each other, they were completely alone.   After ninety-two long years, travelling hundreds of times faster than the speed of light, the first ship slowed into a stable orbit of the planet at their destination. The passengers inside found themselves completely alone as they woke up from their long stasis. Their fuel had been used up in their journey. There was no way home. They had no way to reach another nearby star. They had no idea if or when the other ships would arrive. They had no way to prevent their ship from deorbiting within the year. Whatever happened on this new world, they had to find a way to live on it.   So, with no other choice, these colonists loaded up their landing vehicles and ferried themselves down to the surface. They had a job to do: terraform this world, reestablish human civilization, and someday be ready to face whatever alien faction found them next. This was it. This was humanity's last hope.         Distant Haven is something I'm going to be making just for fun, because it is not going to make much sense. It's going to be a mix of science fiction and fantasy where science is basically magic and reality bends over backwards to accommodate rule of cool. Expect things like a supersoldier, off-brand wizard, and a dragon working together to defeat an tank.
