Evek Nova

Evek Nova is a city and metropolitan region in the Erolian Federation, and, as of 1986, an Autonomous Administrative Zone with its own borders, laws and currency. It is the cultural capital of Erolia, its second largest city, and its largest port. Situated on the Hakuni Colla, a massive outcrop of land protruding into the Havlin Sea, the city has been described as 'the jewel of the occident' by Dinoranians and 'the capital of eastern opulence and degeneracy' by Erolian reactionaries in the ORSA. Deinofi/Deinosone - A cultural phenomenon. Essentially ‘Fondness of the Dinoranians;’ widespread in Evek Nova, the Southern Regions of Erolia and in the Terran Ports.

The Evek Nova Metropolitan Region is part of the Erolian Federation, but retains full autonomy.

Defences

Evek Nova was the site of several important battles in the Erolia War, which destroyed many parts of the city that have since been rebuilt. In light of its contention between the Dinoranian Empire and the Erolian Factions, Evek Nova has fortified itself significantly, and maintains a standing army of 120,000 men. The city contains a total of 61 bomb shelters built by various firms to withstand nuclear bombardment, and provide food and water for several thousand shelterers for an almost indefinite period of time.

Points of interest

Evek Nova's artistic populace have been responsible for constructing several controversial monuments that challenged the reactionary attitudes of many of the mainlanders. In the mouth of the main port district stands an immense statue of four hands holding up the world, representing the Four Continents united in peace. It was built by the GPIP-sponsored Builders of Peace (Erolian: Svmedarntedi Lhn.) at the end of the Thirteen Years War to mark the Treaty of Gea's signature and the GPIP's declaration as an official international peacekeeping organization. The statue has been regarded as highly controversial, both in Erolia and abroad, and was scheduled for demolition by the ORSA until public outrage forced them to preserve the monument. The statue was nevertheless severely damaged during the 1982 Battles of Evek Nova, but it has since been repaired and renovated by Resvetek Lhn., a Dinoranian-Erolian Firm. Today, the globe is painted gold, adorned with ornamental flourishes that did not exist prior, and declared a protected site under GPIP Law, to the delight of the city's Population. To Order of the Serpent-aligned Erolians and their reactionary allies, it is an enduring symbol of Dinoranian tyranny and foreign cultural domination of the Erolian eastern seaboard. The Stand of the Divine Guardian Evkia, a large, partially nude statue of Saint Evkia was built in 1814 by the Metropolitan Committee for Public Art, one of the city's first independent actions. It was torn down by the ORSA in 1940 for symbolizing a defiance of traditional Erolian values, and existing as a challenge to Mainland Erolian Rule. Plans to rebuild the statue were scrapped after the 1986 Terrorist Attacks on the EN Metro.
