Konna

Geography

Roughly elipsoid the main feature of Konna is it's two volcanoes: the Torauti. Very little of the geography beyond that is permanent however, because it is also a barrier island. For most of recorded history, Konna has been home to the human kingdom of Hayrin. However, it was also the original home of the first dragons. They call the island Gonagat. The bones of the first dragons still lie buried beneath the roots of huge trees in the center of the island.

Fauna & Flora

Konna is in the far northwest of the world, but the climate is temperate due to the seismic activity beneath it (much like Iceland in the real world). It is however a land of extremes, and the Ayrish are well-adapted to that. On the western coast of the island there are grasslands which give way to the Reed Sea, so named for it's extremely tall native flora. On the eastern coast there are forests. The warm current just clips the protruding Brentish peninsula in the south, where the city of Brenna is. This causes a fog to hide the whole peninsula, creating a cloud forest. To counter the disorienting effect of this fog, the early Kings of Hayrin built a fortress called Seaguard with a light on top. However, during the reign of King Ollin II the fortress was burned in an attack by the Iron Men. It remains a burnt husk to the present day.

Natural Resources

Konna has some of most products except for metals, though there are silver mines. Technically of course, metal does exist on the island: but it's too dangerous to mine. It is particularly rich in timber, wool, linen and grain. Basically, the island is very self-sufficient and the Ayrish like it that way. To the flying dragons of course, the concept of an "island" is a little ridiculous. They travel freely between Konna and the mainland, and generally view the humans as having very little imagination.
